Philippines Legislator Offers Up Bill That Would Criminalize ‘Ghosting’
Article Link: https://www.techdirt.com/2022/08/04...fers-up-bill-that-would-criminalize-ghosting/

Excerpts:
The rep has introduced a bill that would criminalize the act of “ghosting.”

Ghosting is disengaging from a relationship (short-term or long-term) by ignoring all calls, IMs, text messages, emails, etc. from a paramour until the problem ultimately solves itself. If one interested person can’t get a response from a disinterested person, sooner or later the interested person stops trying.

This is insanely insipid lawmaking. It basically asks the government oversee the termination of romantic relationships. Perhaps the solution would be a government mediator who can notarize a “Certificate of Dumping” to ensure both parties achieve the closure they seek, while only forcing the person doing the dumping to engage with someone they clearly have no interest in interacting with.

Can't ever see this one making too far down the legal pathway....

Wow. Since this basically borders on sex slavery, I could've seen this actually introduced in some Muslim/Arab country but the PI? I mean, Filipinos have a much more measured and consistent approach to dealing with relationship issues. If a girl ghosts a guy, he throws a fit and goes on a bender, staggers into a casino, loses his ass and ends up having to sell seven of his sisters into the sex trade to pay off the debt. If a guy ghosts a girl, she shows up at his shack in the barrio with a steak knife and No More Eduardo. Seems to me American woke-ism has finally arrived in the PI. MABUHAY!!

Could this be applied to business relationships too please. You fucker better buy from me or I am calling the cops!
