Post-Pandemic Gift to Yourself??

My AGI doesn't qualify me for stimulus checks :(.

Nevertheless, the post-pandemic gift to myself will be a care-free visit to Japan and an onsen trip with a Tokyo indie.

That onsen trip sounds like a fantastic idea, but one that I know isn't for me. I'm probably better off doing the onsen thing alone. Every time I've been to a nice onsen ryokan with a date, I have all these awesome (read: perverted) plans for the night but it always ends up the same way: Check in, enjoy the segregated bath while mentally prepping for a pornstar experience, but then I come back the room, start drinking, I'm fucking hammered by the time dinner comes to the room, extra hammered by the time dinner ends, then end up having drunken, sloppy sex with the lights on and soiling the futon mattress, and then I end up sleeping on the soiled mattress (because I'm a gentleman) and wake up still drunk and looking like absolute shit (and usually not fully clothed) when the old lady comes by to serve breakfast, and then suffer the walk of shame as I check out and know the old bitches are all gossiping about what they saw in my room that morning.

One could argue that the experience could be significantly improved by removing alcohol from the equation. But quitting is for quitters.

A typical boutique onesen ryokan has a private onsen bath in each room...and I put my eyes on an onsen like this .

I agree. Private bath for the fun action, or no need to go to an onsen at all. Better to splurge once in a while for that kind of room than having a meh space just for futons. Or At the very least book a kashikire furo for 2 hours if they have one

That's actually really, really nice. Huge balcony and bath. I've stayed with dates in such ryokan with the bath on the balcony, but could never convince my date to get nude and squeeze in with me...probably because half the town could see us and she didn't want an audience. Once it dawned on me that I wasn't getting blown in full view of the city folks I just popped a few beers and staggered off to the male rotenburo...which I actually prefer. I love big outdoor baths.

There's a place in Hakone with an "infiniti" rotenburo that I've been hoping to try this year but not counting on it. Not terribly disappointed as the rooms are in the $700/night range for two and for half of that price I could have an absolutely delightful evening on my own in Gotanda and wake up fully clothed in my hotel bed the next afternoon smelling of akasuri scrub soap, Cuban cigars and urine-soaked jeans.

One more stamp at Bali and a free IZU overnight is pencilled in.

I need to go there. I will even go alone though a date would be preferred.

Honestly, I think there's something very therapeutic about going to a nice onsen ryokan alone, preferably in the middle of nowhere. Once in a great while, I used to hop on the JR Thunderbird at Osaka Station and venture out to the middle of nowhere in places like Tottori, Gifu or Hyogo to stay at some quiet, rural inn alone. Lots of time to think, sitting in the nearly empty bath and having dinner alone. If you get too lonely you can always have a wank at a nearby park. Nobody's around to see you and nothing beats having your dick out in nature.

And opportunities still arise at those rural inns. Once I got chatty with a group of young office girls traveling during a long weekend. Got contact info. Another time I met a cute waitress at an izakaya who really wanted a green card. Got contact info. Another time I got really friendly with a Chinese staffer at a big ryokan, and got her contact info. In all instances, getting the contact info was followed by me getting absolutely shitfaced and evidently behaving in a manner that convinced all of them that they never wanted my penis inside their bodies. Especially the Chinese girl, who was glaring at me the next morning during checkout. I swear, I was Irish in my past life.

I love that kind of ryokan with outside private onsen. I've been to many, and it's a perfect place to enjoy some good sake and have sex in the sunset or under the light of stars. My best experiences in Kawaguchko with views to Fuji-san, and Takaragawa with the unisex onsen in the river. Gifu has some private onsens right in the middle of the forest.
Being once in one hotel with a sea view balcony onsen in Ise, there was a young couple in the next balcony having their bath. We started having sex and my girlfriend was one of those who moans very sensually, The couple next balcony onsen got horny listening to us and started fucking too. It was a kind of HB!
I had planned to go to Takaragawa next month with a new friend, but she wants to go to Hokkaido first. Not so bad.

Travel, definitely travel. Even if only domestically. I've had an excellent pandemic, the overseas company which I was working for from home since way before it was a thing sold itself to a competitor, and as I happened to be a (very) minority shareholder a small but pleasing wodge of the purchase price is now in my sweaty palms, moreover I've been taken on by the local subsidiary as a full-time seishain on better conditions (but still WFH), plus I get my old very generous holiday entitlement grandfathered in, which gives me something like 40 paid vacation days. Plus the local subsidiary has local customers, which technically I will have nothing to do with, but for "domestic" purposes I may be going on the odd "business trip" once those become feasible.

That would be great! I've been begging my other half to do Hokkaido in winter with me but she hates the cold. Me, I fucking love winter. But even if I could trick her into coming with me to a nice ryokan next winter (assuming I'm allowed to visit) I doubt she'd be willing to venture outside naked in -5C weather, much less have sex in it. A number of winters back when I was still single, I stayed at a great hotel in Hakodate with a fucking amazing rooftop rotenburo assortment. If sex isn't on the table I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. Blowing my load (by ass OR hand) then being bareass naked in boiling water on the roof of a high-rise, with snow falling all around you, the entire city can see you and with a nice beer buzz going, that's the closest thing to heaven around here.

We seem to be in very similar positions, minus the corporate buyouts here. Much as I hate to say things like this when a lot of folks are still suffering, this pandemic has been extremely profitable for me. Not only do I WFH whenever I want (or NWAAIIDFFLI...Not Work At All If I Don't Fucking Feel Like It), I also directed myself a promotion/raise this year and, like you, am a minority shareholder in the company and have my annual dividends on the way, shortly. With in-face business deals virtually non-existent and no need for under-the-table favors, my stockpile of discretionary cash is just piling up and ready to be "reallocated" toward something that favors my sexual satisfaction. And with nowhere to go and nothing to spend money on, my checking account is beginning to resemble a healthy savings account. And on top of that, due to my other half not working this year, Uncle Sam is cutting me the biggest tax return I've ever gotten.

Whenever the government cancels the 14-day quarantine for returning nationals, my other half is flying back to visit relatives. If I'm allowed to tag along, holy dogshit I'm going on a Tokyo spending spree.

I wonder how long it will be before they do lift that restriction? Months? Years? :(

I'd hoped that the Japanese government would be forced to re-open to foreigner travelers due to the Olympics, but from what I can tell it sounds like they're all set on allowing only foreign competitors and still sealing off the country to all other foreigners, whether they be spectators or just visitors. That means the country really has no compelling reason to open up by June or July (not that I'd ever visit in June or July).

Since the infection rates here have taken a drastic nosedive over the past few weeks--assuming we don't get that Superbowl Spike and numbers keep trending down--I suppose it's not unrealistic to hope the Japanese government will resume work with our state government to open the Travel Bubble that the Abe Admin was exploring. Particularly since we can reasonably expect mass vaccinations for the general population by June or July (also assuming the variants don't begin raising hell here), and since Japan is trailing us by months in vaccination efforts, by summer it may be the average Japanese traveler is far more a risk to us than us to them in Japan. Biden is promising another 200-million doses by summer, J&J vaccine is set to receive approval next week so things are looking up.

But like everything else over the past fucked up year, who knows? I'm just holding out hope that my Nov/Dec trip will work out and that Japan is a safe place to travel by Fall. And I really, really don't want to have to wear a mask for the entire plane ride over, although I suspect I'm going to be disappointed in that area.

Me too! But i suffered a lot during the GFC and after 3/11 so i don't feel bad about making some money this time.
My post pandemic gift to myself will be expensive flights / hotel to phuket or somewhere similar, spend my days on the beach or getting massages, nights with some unlucky girl.

You have to think bigger my friend. After breakfast it's a local soapland, then massage after lunch and bar girl after dinner.

After the third day I usually start declining the HE part of the massage and that makes the girls very very confused. :D

So Phuket is your preferred location in Thailand?

I only ask because I've never been, and if I ever do make it there it'll have to be with the other half--she's been there many times and I know exactly jack shit about how to get around in that country.

The ladies at the shop where I get my hair done (and only my hair, unfortunately) are all hot middle-aged Thai women, and most of them are former bar-girls and other such industry workers. My regular for the past decade has always recommended I visit, but not Bangkok. Somewhere "up north," is all I remember her babbling on about. Supposedly, better looking girls ("whiter skin," she says) and you can pay them to accompany you for days or even weeks at a time. They cook, clean and of course pleasure you. Is this Chiang Mai?

Not that it matters. If I ever make it to BKK, I'll likely be tasked with carrying all the shopping bags and sweating and bitching about it the entire time.

Its the only place Ive been in Thailand. I like it. Im not really attracted to bkk or pattaya, if i just wanna fuck thai girls there are plenty of places in tokyo for that. Phuket has a nice mix of sex on tap as well as nice beaches / food etc

Yeah, there is also decent scuba diving and other stuff to do in Phuket for those days you feel you could give your dick some rest.
