I should have known this from the start, with all the past warnings i've read here in TAG about touts, but was drunk tonight and some asshat got 70000 each from me and my buddy and got lead into a blank floor with nothing. At least we didn't get hurt, but still its worth one month of shopping for me.

Never open you wallet anywhere until you enter the shop.

Sorry to hear about it.

Curious, can you give more details about what happened?

Did you literally just have some dude tell you go to a building and you handed him140,000 yen upfront?

That’s horrible. Did that scumbag led you there and just disappeared?

That’s horrible. I’m sorry to hear that. I have been caught in some other situations like that before. I I was in Thailand and was locked in a room until I gave them the cash they demanded. I convinced them I didn’t have what they wanted and needed to go to an ATM. They believed me and escorted me to the closest ATM and I ran for my life.

I was dumb for even getting into that situation. But fortunately clever and lucky enough to escape with out damage.

Did you hand the guy ¥140,000 and he sent you into an elevator alone? Sight unseen? No storefront?

Thank you for sharing this. A valuable lesson learned.
At least, you guys walked away without being physically harmed.
Forget the money. You’ll be able to earn that again. Spend it wisely next time.
Keep safe.

This is actually a good lesson for Japan.
These scammers know the ropes, and they live by people freely handing over money in Japan over the smallest threats or false promises.

If they use any sort of violence on you to try and get the money, this is the only time the Police have and will ACT, thus they may intimidate you but forcefully taking money is unheard of. Stand your ground and ask to go to ATM or the police. They will threaten to bring a civil suit against you, but they won't.

Yes, near the corner working lot with the male host posters behind robot restaurant. Keeps insisting he's Japanese. I actually called him out on being suspicious, but drunk me is very susceptible to peer pressure and sunk-cost fallacy (already handed him 20000 then said he needs a five mang deposit since we're not japanese). Said he is Japanese that's why we can trust him. Later described him to some helpful people who said they recognize the guy and he's Chinese.

Hurting real bad financially this month coz of him, but the real sinker is the thought that I can go to the premium soaps in yoshiwara for that kind of cash. #priorities

I think I know which corner you’re talking about. I was nearby the robot restaurant recently with my client and when you turn the corner there’s a hoard of touts gathering together. They gave us an analyzing look but didn’t approach. (Probably because I’m a woman) Tbh they looked *very* shady. Sorry about what happened to you.

Deposit thing confuses me so much, you are a frequent user of adult services, why do people fall for the you must pay a deposit scam.

Oldest trick in the book, The above video is where the touts wanted 650,000 yen over a period of several days, police finally caught them when the tout wanted more money, the victim realized they were lying went to the police and the police set up a sting.

Just on the record, the police have about $500,000 spread over 60 cases in a year, that is over $8000 a victim. This is tax free money, you can see why people do it.

Good to see arrests taking place - it means someone pissed off whatever cop was protecting their racket.

All my experiences were with Yoshiwara and escorts, and aside from that one time in Strawberry Jam, I try to avoid Kabuki-cho so I have less experience there. Add to that my drunkedness, our asian upbringing to not say no outright, and thinking with our dicks, you get the recipe for a stupid guy who falls for these scams.

Honestly, that shame of being duped due to a moment of stupidity hurts me more than losing that mount of money.

No shame in being duped whilst wasted. The shame is all on them.,

Sometimes you need a bit of pain to help in the long run. You’ll never do that again, right? If it was only a few thousand yen, you’d probably try again, but now you have a healthy aversion to touts.... you’ve basically saved money in the long run. Think of that 70k (that you couldve spent on an indy or a high class soap) as an investment.

Notorious place should always avoid , especially touts someone totally unknown and unfamiliar with.
Only if someone have trusted friends and make can the connection, still he must be loaded in the first place if really serious with JAV, is not for peasants to start with.
JAV went over to hk and ROC, and not the first time.
https://hk.on.cc/hk/bkn/cnt/news/20180910/bkn-20180910050046619-0910_00822_001.html, goggle translate if problem reading it.
I not interested with the top JAV as i doesn't have that money and also feel it is not worth at all.

The general rule of the whole world is: Dont ever follow somebody that approach you in the streets.
I mean if you are two normal people getting to be friends its diffrent, but specifically somebody wanna sell you a service of any kind or take you anyplace.
A 5 star resturaunt will never have a tout trying to get customers in for example.

Allowing a tout -whether for a bar, mens club, hostess bar, massage etc. - is a bad idea whether Shinjuku , Roppongi or Ueno. Just don’t.

In the past several years, I know of or have heard of longtime expats ( one who grew up here since high school . Scandinavian dude ) who got drink spiked. One American guy, a judoka, fell for that “roofie in the drink” ruse a long time ago ( now they seem to use hypnotics more like scopolamine which render you lucid-looking but zombie-like ) and managed fight off his wanna-be African overlords and the effects of the drug (his judo skills and the fact he was a pretty big guy saved him. Barely ). Another wasn’t even drinking alcohol but they got him ... he got away with ¥400,000 of credit card charges, and the combination of not taking action right away, fear of explaining it to his wifey, and general indifference from the cops and credit card company when he did try to reverse the charges ... had him finally asking whether there might be a lawyer who could help him.

Reading all the wonderful reviews, getting my fantasies going, and then reading the experience - it really pulls you back down from where you think you'll end up.
I've already set myself with some guidelines for my night out:
1) If I look for adventure, I don't drink, or do it very moderately with dinner. Besides, if I drink, it's harder to get it up and working, right? :)
2) I take cash, never CC. I might lose what I have on me, but at least no one will start swiping my cards.
3) Never follow the touts! not even to a restaurant!

Is there a "Fourth rule" you guys follow? or any flaw in my system?

The third rule actually is the first and most important one: Don’t follow the touts..

Whats the difference s-class and e-class? I guess they must both be well known?
