Title is pretty self explanatory. I'm curious what sort of activities everyone picked up in lieu of being able to go outside and do more sordid things ;)

I know that the state of emergency in Japan has now been lifted and that things are gradually returning to "normal" (as the government stubbornly hides testing center and information to keep numbers down lol)

The "lockdown" gave me more free time than I've had in over a decade, so I decided to get back into electronics and making custom keyboards. Now that I am working 100% remotely I figured might as well splurge on something I spend nearly all day using.

Does exploring the depths of my alcoholic tendencies count?

They are some deep depths.

Not a lot, but just a bit more free time for me that I’ve been using to play more games, take my time building a new computer, and upgrading another.

Gaining weight seems to have become a hobby of mine. Despite my efforts to the contrary.

Let's see, what else?

I'm starting to watch anime again. Mostly lighthearted shows. I kind of "grew out of" anime a while back when I made the transition from college student to salaryman and got married.

Video games are making a resurgence for me. I'm playing RDR2 now and have a lot of games I bought but never played.

That's about all that's new for me hobby wise I think. I might've watched all the porn on the internet but I was already doing that before this lockdown thing happened, lol.

okay I guess I just learned a new word :ROFLMAO: never heard of sordid before.
Well it was in the original post from Cassandra, and she’s American... :)
(but ok, it’s also a French word if you add an « e » in the end)

The first months rereading old books. And the last month, I've been looking at my belly button feeling sorry for myself because of a sentimental break and putting the pieces of my broken heart together with the help of my loyal old friend Johnny the Walker. Waiting to be able to return to the arena after the outbreak to fall again.

Mechanical keyboards (PC) or music keyboards? If I may ask.

Mechanical keyboards! I just finished my first build a few days ago. Not quite end game yet though; I'm going to build a custom coiled cable for it and the keycaps are placeholders for a set I ordered through a group buy. Switches are nice and clicky though

Nothing new. I have gaming as hobby that didn't change. I started working out but that started in March so idk if I should call it new. Technically it’s after COVID so I’ll say yes. I’ve been very consistent with it and seeing results in my chest, triceps, quads etc. Starting to look better in the mirror.

Work plus these two plus daily errands fill up my schedule.

I love mechanical keyboards too but for competitive shooting purposes only use the smaller ones (to have space for moving mouse freely). I’m a HyperX fanboy ever since using their headphones. So I bought HyperX Alloy Pro. I was thinking about custom keycaps but the ones I wanted was outrageously expensive. I have absolutely zero knowledge of making things, so I guess I will settle with this one for the time being.

This is really freaking cool!
I was very productive for a month or two into quarantine but now... well, a lot of lazing around and having no motivation :cautious:

I need a new keyboard and this sounds great. Have no idea where to start though. Needs to be an English set-up though. Any help?

It’s weird because I love Borderlands & haven’t even downloaded the new add from this week yet.
Same here. Haven't played the last takedown either.

I've been learning Spanish & practicing all kinds of leatherwork. Thanks to COVID I now have a far more diverse set of interests... just hope one day I can get out there & use them all.

Leatherwork... hmmm... what kind exactly? ;)

How much building do you enjoy? If you just want one you can use right off the bat I'd recommend taking a look at Ducky and Varmillo; their mech keebs are nice and come with great keycap sets.

However if you like building I would suggest getting a kit off of KBDFans or KPRepublic. If you're not confident soldering get a hotswap PCB. My first one was hotswappable but my next build is going to be a split ergo that will definitely involve soldering. I'm also going to make a custom macro pad for media that I'm pretty psyched about. Here are some helpful sources:

Figuring out what kind of switch you like is pretty much trial and error. There are plenty of sound samples on youtube but the material of the case really affects the sound so it's impossible to know what it will sound like. I have Kailh Box Whites and they sound super different in my alu case as opposed to what i've seen on youtube. However I'm a huge fan of clicky tactiles so any sort of box white, jade or navy switch would be good for me. My work set up is 100% remote so I don't need to worry about annoying coworkers with my machine gun keyboard. If I was in an office I'd probably go for Kailh speed silvers.

I thought I’d be gaming but focused more on 2 personal side projects. It’s weird because I love Borderlands & haven’t even downloaded the new add from this week yet.

Yeah I binged games for the first 2 weeks then got bored and decided I wanted to create something. Also I love Borderlands; gotta play the new one.

So out of curiosity and because I'm probably too old to understand, but why would you do that? To get a specifically noisy keyboard? It seems to be more expensive and have way less functionality than a gaming keyboard.
