I hope no one minds my creating just one more thread!
I am arriving in Tokyo in late April. I'm going to spend a few days there before I meet an army buddy in Kyoto. We're planning on seeing Osaka too, then heading back to where he lives in Kyushu.
I've noticed that the Japan Rail Pass is a great deal. However, on the website it says that the pass won't get you access to Osaka, Kyoto, or Kyushu. Does that apply to just specific rail lines, or are there other trains that you can use the pass to travel to those areas? I'm a little confused about all of this. Public transportation here sucks ass so I'm a little bewildered by it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
