Random Fashion Chat

I recently had a girl meet me in a full jirai Kei black lolita dress style getup. Something basically I didn't even know existed and probably most foreigners think is strange, but damn I loved it

Taste definitely changes. I'm Asian but grew up in a western country so throughout most of my life I had zero interest in Asian girls and rejected any chance of dating one, I just didn't even want to consider it.
Most of my friends were western, so I identified with them more and naturally had more contact with western girls. In a way I was kinda racist against my own and rejected a lot of my own culture, so that I wouldn't receive racism.
It wasn't until my late 30s when I started accepting more Asian culture via K-movies and K-drama (which I had also previously just blanketly rejected) and I started to appreciate Asian women. I joke about I'm getting back in touch with my roots as i get older but it is exactly what's been happening over the last few years

To tie it back to the thread, my first session with Rio last year was my first time with an Asian woman and it unlocked something in me. Now I'm huge fan of Asian women.

I don't like blonde hair on Asian girls. I just don't think it suits them in general. Not many can pull it off. Everytime I see a k-pop idol go I'm just like, oh they ruined her. I do other the regular girl next door, black hair look, especially shorter hair, bobs will always get my attention.

Since this was moved to its own topic ill just ask this here: Do you happen to know any DH or HH shops that specialize or provide jirai kei, Lolita, goth, or other alternative fashion girls? Most shops dont focus on the clothes of the provider aside from cosplay shops, and i dont think this would count as cosplay?

Yes...boils down to experience with the shops. They often don't openly advertise it and if there is only few pictures it's often hard to tell, but after using them a few times you get a good feeling which shops have what type of girls in their lineup.

Yeah, that's the problem I ran into. It's usually never advertised or easy to tell from the pictures. Its either younger girl shops around Shibuya and hope, or more s/m, gyaru shops and hope. Wasn't planning on going the tachinbo route, so i was hoping there would be a good DH alternative. Would you have any tips or pointers in regards to finding shops like this?

I grew up in the American countryside and will never forget developing my first crush on a Chinese-American classmate in high school after I started weebing pretty hard. We went our separate ways in college but until then I tried my best to woo her to no avail.

Then I met a Korean exchange student in college who was fucking cute as hell and shared virginity with her. Then after a Chinese exchange student in California and a few women later I met that high school crush again and was in disbelief; she was nowhere near as cute as the girls I was actually with.

With that I do believe that these tastes change with more exposure. I wasn't really exposed to many Asians in the White hell my parents chose to raise me in—the fact that she was unique is what made me feel she was so attractive and I didn't have any real life comparison.

I've been trying to explain this shit to my brother and other friends but they tell me they can't see it. Which leads me to believe they aren't looking close enough.

So that "guy learns Japanese, only to find out his crush is Chinese" headline was you?
Oh hell yeah I was pathetic. Before I even knew what anime was I grew up believing Japanese were a subset of Chinese people who ate white rice while Chinese ate fried rice.

The ignorance of the American countryside is truly astounding.

Whenever I go back to the US my mom is always saying things along the lines of "I guess you like Chinese food a lot" and other similar type comments. Man shes sweet but the ignorance is absurd. It's like Japan and China are one in the same to her.

I invited one of my former college professors to come visit me here, and he told me about a conference he did in China and how terrifying it was being followed and random folks on the street "knowing who he was." I don't know the veracity of his story but when I explained to him that China and Japan are vastly different countries he was like, "yeah, maybe that's true but I can't help but think Asians all think that way. I just can't trust them."

Didn't have the heart to tell him it took me ages to stop seeing white folks a certain way but whatever the fuck having a PhD and being that willfully ignorant must only be possible in America.

Nah, older folks (say, 50+) here in Europe are very similar. You might be able to get around to "Indians" and "Asians" at best, but good luck getting to anything more fine-grained

Wasn't too long ago one of my aquintances in Japan was showing me their food they ate at a Chinese restraurant, an Italian restaurant, and a few others- including a Viet and a Malay- and talking about how exotic they were.

Come to America and they probably think all but Italy is the same country lmao.

This unfortunately also happens in Europe, I was in Japan when the big earthquake happened in Thailand and I had my mom and other family member calling non-stop asking if I ask ok... She thought it was all the same, god bless her soul but goddamn...
