Hello all,

I want to ask about places with good sex ratios in Shibuya and Shinjuku as the last time this was asked was two years ago and I feel the situation may have changed. My nights out have become very samey over the past year or so due in part to only being able to go out with one friend who doesn't speak Japanese and is interested in foreign girls only and getting too comfortable with the same locations. Here's a typical night out for me (all places listed are mainly men):

First, I start by hitting one or two rock bars in Shibuya, not far from the Tokyu hands store. What can I say, I'm a headbanger and I need my fix! I've chatted with women there before (including a Miss Japan entrant, how I'm kicking myself now over that!) but it's mainly men in most rock bars as a general rule of thumb. After a few, if no one is interested in bouncing (one time post heavy kino I was declined) I head over to Shinjuku.

There again to prepare myself for the generic music (you'll notice this is a common theme for me!) I head over to my usual metal bars for another and to get my shout on (cos you don't want to be doing that in other venues now do you? :) ). Once done my friend always ends up convincing me to go to Champions just outside (inside?) Golden Gai. For the uninitiated (which I doubt many of you are), that's a karaoke bar but in the western style i.e. you sing in front of everyone. I'm not a bad singer so I usually sing a song or two and have even had people buy me drinks as a thank you after my performances. Don't get me wrong it's fun but there's no two which ways around it, the regulars there are foreign men on holiday and a few Japanese men really really keen to speak English, the amount of women there can usually be counted on one hand.

From there my friend somehow always persuades me to go to Tokyo Loose, and each time I vow never to go back. The staff seem to love him so he enjoys the attention I feel. The only women there are working girls, which I'm not so interested in and either way they're probably out of my price range even if I was.

One of my other friends took me to Dragonmen in Nichome one time, and that wasn't actually too bad though it's hit and miss as to whether the young lady you're chatting to is interested in you or humouring you.

So I pose the question: where could I go where there are more women? I'm not looking to chat up every woman on site but I want to be able to get out of scarcity mentality for sure and remember my university days where socialising was so balanced that I could just be me and let the magic happen. There are all these women at the station, they can't all be pulling down shifts at hostess bars etc surely? If they are, enlighten me.

Finally, I've heard HUB bandied around a lot but whenever I've been everyone is in their little groups (as is often the case at bars particularly -though not exclusively - in Japan) so I've not understood the appeal if I'm honest. Also I'm not so interested in gaijin hunter girls looking for a new toy to practice English with so places where I can chat with people in Japanese would be better, but I'm open to all suggestions.

Thank you all in advance
