Does any one have any recommendations for SM bars that Icould take a lady friend. I was after something that is a bit more than a show (eg the Black Rose). Ideally something with a degree of audience participation, but as a firsttimer she would not feel uncomfortable just watching. Obviously not ready for a happening bar (yet).

A few years ago, I went to this place:
jail-ory.com/roppongi
It seems that they have no problem with Gaijin.
I am Chinese and speak Japanese but the staff told me that they also have Russian customers.
So, I think it is Gaujin friendly.

A few concerns:
1, not so sure about staff's language proficiency
2, not SO much audience oriented play involved.
But you can ask your mate to have a demo with your partner behind a curtain.

Anyway, I recommend Mio-chan, a girl with some tattoo, as your mate.
She has a really warm and kind heart.

The apartment I rented in Roppongi was right next door to this place, so I walked by it every day. Never ventured in.

Anyway, some additional information.
I heard this from my J-laday ex-partner, who went there together with me.
This jail-ory once got some trouble with police as they toyed a female guest
in front of the other customers, during an audience participating session.
Though every one was happy, the officials seem don't agree and
regarded the show as a break of some vague old-fashioned Japanese law.
On the day we went there, it has already been completely recovered and the staffs were very relaxed.

According to news, a covered policeman pretended to be a regular by going there continuously for a couple
of months with tax payer's money.
It really sounds like an abasement of the priority to enjoy himself with name of job.

Could you say a bit about what happens at the jail-pry club or similar places? Are they stage shows? Personal services? Participatory? Are they for singles or couples or groups or...? Etc.

I have a lady friend who would be interested...maybe. She/we know a bit about BDSM etc but nothing about the SM club scene.

Any info helpful and appreciated.

Hi,

Based on my limited experience at jail-ory,
it has a similar system like "hostess club".
You pay your entrance fee and then choose a company or mate,
whatever it is.
Then you order some drink for yourselves and your hostess/mate.
You are paying the tips to the mate in this way, I guess.
Mio-chan, our mate during our visit, ordered some whisky
and it is not as expensive as hostess club for sure.
Then are can talk with your mate and ask her to give you are a demo
or illustration behind a curtain if you want.
But not that "personal", I guess.

They usually have one or two stage show for every one.
What did we watch is a candle game on that night and not BDSM in the western sense.
They also invite couples to the stage after or before the show to have some illustration.
I spanked my ex-partner's ass in front of others ;)

Regarding to the group of customers, I think it is quite diverse.
Besides us, there were a group of co-workers mixed with guys and ladies.
Also some single man there talking to their mate/hostess.

In general, it is quite friendly place.
I would suggest you to be relaxed and give a try.

Club Mistress on Roppongi Dori is a standard. They have two shows a night at 7 and 11. However, to get a private show you have to go about 10 times at 10,000 per visit, so it's a big investment. The shows are good, so if you just want that, it could work. They may try to recruit your girlfriend if she's Japanese.
