TAG escorts are fluent in English. Japanese not needed

Nobody, except you know, talked about fluency. I specifically stated the most common language is broken English. I should know, I am native in that.

And if we want to nitpick, and when we wouldn't?, Chinese is not really a single language, but more like a language family.

I have absolutely no idea how did you come to that conclusion.

Nitpicking even more I also think English is more like a language family (and a dysfunctional family at best). Once at a rugby match I tried to understand a kiwi. I swear if he had talked to me in tibetan I would have understood him better!

Fake news. Some are some arent.
Ok guys I found the solution : just learn French! It used to be the global (well, European at least) language for aristocrats and diplomats in the 18th century , why not for punters and their providers in the 21st? :D

Oui, c'est bien!!! Ne pas sousi! Je parle Francaise un petite peu! lol...But don't get me wrong, notoriously humoured loving guys!

Merci beaucoup, for saving the thread, Frenchy!!!

I am afraid you are wrong. But don't worry so is everyone else when they disagree with Uncle Mike so you are not alone.

1.5 billion English speakers vs. 1.2 billion Chinese speakers.
Cantonese and Mandarin combined you get near 1.2 billion. English as a first or second lang is just less than a billion according to Wiki. Source?

Yuriko,

I
You are counting people to have only two languages. You must be from the US.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/266808/the-most-spoken-languages-worldwide/[/QUOT

Your source, Statista, says that almost 1.5 billion people speak English as a second language. These people are almost all Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. I would guess that about 200 million can actually make any sense of the language at all. So it depends on how you measure, but I think Mandarin is probably the winner. It has the most speakers who can speak and understand with a reasonable degree of proficiency.

To be fair, the white people in the US are the direct ancestors of the colonists Europeans, not us people who were born in Europe.

The best criminals from Europe escaped to the US, the ones we caught were send to Australia.

Or Guyana/New Caledonia for the frenchies. Now we send tourists there, things kinda improved I guess...

Cantonese and Mandarin shouldn't be combined. They are 2 separate languages.

That said if you want to believe to babble.com . 1.2 Billion speak Mandarin. 400 million speak spanish . 340 million speak English.

I find the last number to be off. The US population is 320 million, Great Britain is 64 million and Australia is 24 million. Let's not forget those able to speak English in Canada and other countries, so maybe Babble.com is not a reliable source...

Naaaaa make sense. Many people in the US don't speak English . Notably NYC taxi drivers. In the U.K. Scots say they speak English but it's barely recognizable (Yorkshire English too for that matter) . As for the Canadians... many Québécois are hard to understand (in French too).
Aussies and Kiwis seem to speak a completely different language altogether.
And the rest are just rounding errors .

My guess is that almost everyone who speaks Mandarin speaks it like a native. Some Malay and Indian Singaporeans who learned it at school are an exception. The English speaking world on the other hand, thanks to the British Empire, is full of people who can sorta, kinda a little bit and in a very fucked up way almost speak English. This would include folks from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and a host of other countries. Not to say that there are fine English speakers in these countries. There are many. But hundreds of millions are labeled as English speakers but, eh not so much.

That was my point from the beginning of this very interesting thread-derailing debate with MikeH but I tried to be more diplomatic ! :D

For local shop girls, they need Japanese to communicate, with papa san, etc. but TAG escorts are all fluent English speakers. We want to gain the opportunity to spk English in daily life.
That's one of the reasons we are here!

Maybe you're trying to impress us, but inquiry in English we appreciate at most. If your English is not that confident and Japanese is better, then we understand.

Thank you!

なるほど

Yeah, but also you only write and don't read. ("How to make friends on a forum" Lesson 2 by MikeH). I specifically said we are talking about a language called "broken English". They form easily the biggest group; Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

I want to share my experience.
Some enquirers send me messages in Japanese but I am sure they are using google translator and it is most likely to be very shit Japanese.

Some of them have limited Japanese but they still try to speak to me Japanese. They make me annoyed. Why don't they send me just in English? Ate they testing that I understand Japanese?

Some clients say "why do you speak English? Are you 100% Japanese? No Japanese speak English". ............ well I want to ask you "don't you know some Japanese speak English? "

If client say Japanese is better to communicate, I speak Japanese. But 2 men did not believe I am Japanese. They speak very fluent Japanese (like Japanese native speaker). They said I am very good at Japanese and kept asking me what's my nationality. I had to lie and say I am Korean because I wanted them to just leave my apartment.

Interestingly, many Chinese think my Japanese is not good. I said to them if you think my Japanese is not good, your Japanese is not good enough.

I asked why they think my Japanese is not good. They all said because I use polite Japanese. When they waer at Japanese school, they learn polite word first and then casual word. But I have to say that they don't know about Japanese culture. It's very very common to use polite word when we see clients or especially if we meet someone first time.

So if your English is better than your Japanese, please use English and vice versa.

Anyway I found my own solution. I speak English even though my clients speak in Japanese.
