The Anything Goes Thread

Literally can't make this stuff up

"on one occasion, when the guard used English to stop someone from running out onto the street, they angrily told him, "I'm Japanese!" The guard then told him that if he was Japanese, he should cross the street properly — in Japan it's commonplace to always use crosswalks and refrain from jaywalking or going against pedestrian signals — to which the person told him to use honorific language when addressing him."

Tourists are the real Mt. Fuji cult with their behavior around that area

this is the most absolutely insane thanksgiving horror movie - and it became tradition to watch it every year.
Coincidentally I'm going to spend it eating Japanese bbq instead of traditional American food because it's tastier to me

Been in Japan for a week.

This is the last time I am going to Osaka and Kyoto. If any one of my friends wants me to be their free tour guide again, I will start charging them. Holy crap was Kyoto rammed to the tits. Currently in Onomichi enjoying the peace and fucking quiet.

A friend ruins a Tokyo based tour agency - he's had to start taking the (Tokyo departing) tours there himself because most of his staff are refusing to go there.

Soooo many tour groups, it's insane. Tokyo wasn't as bad as I thought, even at the typical tourism spots. But Kyoto was fucked. Wasn't this packed last year during Sakura season. A billion Chinese tour groups, people with tripods acting as if the rest of the planet doesn't exist and the high foot traffic location belongs to them and their camera...

Cycling the Shimanami Kaido tomorrow, that's going to be great. Matsuyama shouldn't be too bad either. Then it's off to Hiroshima which will probably be packed... I can't wait to just spend two days in Tokyo doing fuck all and walking along the Arakawa river or something. Next trip I am going back to Tohoku or something, people never go there.

He should try telling that to Japanese people in Shinjuku, haha!

I hopped into the time machine and went back to read some old threads from way before my time (I joined in September). Discussions surrounding love, lust, falling for your SB, the nature of the business, and everything in between. Very insightful. Good to have some perspective.

Okay, some impressions:

Onomichi -> Shimanami Kaido -> Matsuyama -> ferry ride to Hiroshima is still by far my favourite thing to do in Japan. Almost better the second time around, despite us idiots taking a wrong turn once and adding an unnecessary 20km to the already 80km long cycle. 10/10 would do again. Maybe without me falling in slow motion four times when trying to stop. Got a nice bruise on my inner thigh but it is what it is.

Matsuyama seems to still be relatively tourist free. A bunch of Koreans, barely any Chinese or Western tourists. Might spend more time there next time around because I love that part of Japan.

Yup was the same when I went to that area last year. Wakayama and Mie was fantastic as well with mostly local tourists at most.

Yeah, this is, surely, fucking nuts.
And the worst possible timing for me as I am interviewing with a Korean company this month and my money has completely run out lol. (Well, apart from that fucking huge chunk of cash that the US government refused to handover - who'd have known what a huge impact geopolitics would have on my ability to pay women to have sex with me, sigh.)

Ok I'm not familiar with SK politics, but is this as crazy as it seems? So out of the blue...
Yep, it's right out of Central America in the 80s - he was trying a last ditch ploy to get out of being impeached for corruption.

He's totally cooked now.

The tradition of South Korea throwing their president in prison when their term ends continues…

Seriously though, good that he could be stopped. That's a sign of true democracy still being alive.

President Yoon really wanted to become top of the leader screw ups. Couldn't let Prime Minister Ishiba take that crown! Must beat Japan! LOL

I'd love to see more countries adopt this process. They don't even need to be guilty of anything other than running for public office.
