The Next US President is....

She strikes me as a very smart individual. I kinda like that she answers questions, and if she doesn't know she says so.
Also she doesn't attack the person asking the question.

Whatever you say about Biden's mental capacity, I get the feeling that the US is heading in a better direction than teetering on the abyss under trump. 50 million vaccinated, rejoined Kyoto, bitch-slapped MBS,

I have a mate here in Japan from the US. We're really good mates, drink a lot together, but he has many similar ideas to @Keihan .
We talk about it a bit, and have some good discussions, but stay wide apart at the end.

My only thing I can put it down to is the places we were brought up! I come from a country with universal health care, free education, and minimal firearms. I take these things for granted. They are normal to me. Yet I'd hardly say the country of my birth is a Che Guevara worshiping socialist state. There are rich and poor, and racial issues (but nothing like the US).

Yet at the end of the night, when we are shit-faced drunk together, we leave the best of mates. I put it down to our mutual love of the female form, and no matter where the conversation goes, it inevitably comes back to how cute the bar tender is, or which girly bar we should go to next time we're in Tokyo.

BTW I'm not a fan of Kamala Harris at all. She gives me the shits!

Jen Psaki was one of the minds behind Obama's meteoric rise in 2007 and continued on with admin till the end. She's a gifted political operator and is respected on both sides of the aisle and throughout D.C., which is exactly why I can't believe she came back to this. The entire purpose of making it into a WH admin gig is to translate that experience into a lucrative private sector gig. George Stephanapo-whatever, Bill Clinton's old Press Secretary, now one of the highest paid talking heads in America (something like $20M/year, I think?). Dana Perino, GW's former Press Secretary, a FoxNews superstar millionaire. Karl Rove, The Mooch, Reince Priebus, etc., all guys now making seven-figure consulting fees. It doesn't make sense for Psaki to gamble her impeccable resume by going to bat for a senile, demented old man that can't be relied on and probably won't be President much longer.

I actually don't talk politics much with friends, especially those from my Japan days (who are polar opposites). These forums are my outlet for those old tendencies. Put it this way, I'm a former journalist and classically-trained musician: it's fair to say there aren't many conservatives in my social circles. But as you pointed out, pussy and beer are the two most bi-partisan bridges known to mankind. Wars could be prevented if world leaders were able to get shitfaced and visit brothels together to smooth things out. Hard to think or give even give a shit about tariffs and trade wars and treaties and illegal migrants when your dick is stiff, and the moments after he's blown an epic load is the only time a man is truly capable of empathy.

Honestly, when I first heard the name Jen Psaki, I thought she was “Jen Saiki.” So, I wrongly pictured a Japanese-American woman or at least a woman with Japanese married name.

why? There are more and more of them actually !

More like tools to me. "This person from my sworn political opposition agrees with me. That mean he's 'reasonable'".

I only know of one Japanese-American woman who is a democratic official. She's a nut case.

To be honest, you're the only one here who doesn't sound at all "reasonable." Quite the opposite, actually. Plus, you actually put "Osaka" in your username.

Something must've gone wrong. You party a little too hard in Umeda, accidentally wander into Doyamacho and get a little more than you bargained for? Or maybe once upon a time some guy in a "REAGAN '84" t-shirt touched your wee-wee at the local YMCA and you're still out for vengeance. Trust me, being all "woke" as part of therapy and getting into a hissy because someone uses the "he" or "she" pronoun isn't all it's cracked up to be.

i think you misread him Keihan ... he is probably not pro-Democrats , on the far opposite more like pro-non reasonable GOP. Maybe beating one off in front of today’s CPAC speeches :)

Have you guys lived in political hugboxes for so long you resort to insults? Never said I was "reasonable". I believe there's no such thing in politics. I'm just watching the world burn while giving hot takes. You two however.......

In my defense, if that were ever to happen, Frenchy would definitely be the catcher. I pitch, and pitch, only.

Don't even get me started on this year's CPAC...what a fucking disaster. The sad part is I normally enjoyed watching CPAC, if only because it was a very educational preview of the coming season. The agenda shapes up, the talking points, and most importantly, you get a definite preview of the presidential hopefuls and CPAC is a major audition for them.

This year, somehow, the Trump crazies have managed to hijack the entire program. The final straw for me was when the event leadership had to come out and ask people to abide by both county regulations and hotel ballroom guidelines and wear their masks, and half the crowd started booing and screaming, "FREEEEEDOM!!" But if CPAC wants to sink with the Trump ship, that's their prerogative.

I've said it before, the GOP has long since moved past Trump. And as proof of that, I offer this: look at which major political figures and potential presidential candidates are NOT speaking this year? I said it before, that she's the establishment pick for 2024...Nikki Haley. She's basically the only former Trump cabinet member missing. The only two people I'm genuinely surprised to see on the roster are Kevin McCarthy and Tom Cotton, as McCarthy is positioned to be Speaker if the GOP takes back the House, and Cotton has long been seen as a potential VP pick. I suppose it's just strategy as at least some of the establishment leaders have to court Trump crazies for their votes next year, but I give the exact words of one of my friends, a senior level RNC operator, about the future of Trump supporters in the GOP:

"We're going to purge every last one of those fucking assholes."

You should be well aware by now that despite being the best reviewed male escort in TAG he doesn't provide penetration.

I've listened to some of the speeches. It sounds like typical American rightist fare to me. Where are these 'Trump crazies' you speak of?

Also, this cuts to a deeper issue. Get rid of Trump all you like. The long running sad song of the American right continues. There has always been a bellicose element of the American right the hapless politicos have to contend with. From the John Birch Society to the conspiracy riddled militias of Clinton's America and lest we don't forget the more unsavory elements of the TEA party. All inspired left-wing opportunists to tar and feather the entire right as such and for a few GOP moderates to virtue signal that they're not those types but really do jack all about it.

The problem isn't really Trump. It's the Republican Party itself. He was just the last straw of of a long list of unfortunate events for the GOP. For both sides of the isle really. Don't kid yourself into believing this sad party had any better press and reputation before Trump. And what are you trying to accomplish getting rid of Trump and his supporters? To further shrink what you have and slide into irrelevance? To hope to recapture the suburbanites and socialites that been trending towards the democrats for decades? To sweet talk minorities who have a built in bias towards the left that you're not racist and finally consider you? To get in the good graces of the institutions the dems had a choke hold on since forever to see you in a good light just once? To convince a country whose demographics trend left no matter what you do to buy what you are selling?

This is the problem with the le moderate, le reasonable, le establishment types or whatever you want to call yourselves. You have your sessions to yourselves and to the left and expect to be carpentbagged into the center of the party and have the rank and file not consider you a bunch of Vichies and Quislings to boot. Politics is about perception. If your average Republican perceives their side is taking too many L's with no one to fight for them, don't expect an imposed gaggle of moderates to save the day and be liked. Especially if they spent their time virtue signaling to the left instead of convincing the right why they are worthy of support. Hence you get Trump and whatever comes after since he is one man but the anger never goes away.

So go ahead, "purge every last one of those fucking assholes", and get fucked in the ass for doing so.

I must admit, I actually read the entire post. Problem is, I'm about six drinks in so not really sure if I should agree, disagree or just try to be offensive again? I'm constantly accused of being wordy but, buddy, I think you're way overthinking this, particularly on a site dedicated to paid sexual gratification.

BUT, to stay relevant to the topic at hand, I did see something in today's news that genuinely surprised me. Biden is planning to meet with the Mexican president this week. The Mexican president is planning to demand the U.S. share its vaccine supply with Mexico. And Biden, shockingly, is basically planning to tell him to fuck off and that the U.S. will NOT be sharing any of its vaccine supply with anyone until every American who wants a shot has had the opportunity to be vaccinated. Dare I say that sounds like...America First???

In any event, I was quite pleased with the news. Even a broken clock, right?

well , he could play it both ways if he was smarter: saying that all Americans who want the vaccines should get them first, then kindly ship to Mexico the ones all the nutty anti-vaxxers don’t want anyway. In exchange for a small favor. Like paying for the wall or something

I'd bargain for a five year free supply of tamales.

Well, Slow Joe is now promising that we'll have enough vaccine for every American adult by the end of May. That's at least two months earlier than every other projection made thus far. I certainly hope he's correct but one wonders if his staff are losing their shit as he had another senior moment, kinda like the one in January where he promised 200-million doses by March and Jen Psaki had to immediately walk that one back.

Unless tens of millions of doses are going to magically appear in the next month I don't see how that happens. In my current state, we've been in the 75+ stage for over two months and aren't even ready to open up vaccinations to the 70+ crowd for another two weeks; best estimate is that we'll hit the 65+ in early April if we're lucky, and even if we get through that we'll only have covered about 25% of the state's adult population. Officials here are saying we MIGHT be able to vaccinate all interested adults by the end of summer, IF we can get at least a quarter-million J&J vaccines and prioritize those toward younger folks.

Anyhow, I managed to weasel my way onto this week's very short Pfizer wait-list so I'll be crossing my fingers and clenching my asshole as I wait for that elusive phone call to come in.

Fully vaccinated (second Moderna) over the weekend. Very minimal side effects. Slight headache or pressure, very slight elevated temp but for a short time.

Having Merck involved now should help speed things up.
