I did not even know that such a thing existed. :O

I am not all that well informed on this matter, but apparently pole dancing competitions are a new thing and are rapidly increasing in popularity. The annual international competition in Tokyo may be the world's biggest/main such event (I'm not sure but have that impression) with competitors coming in from around the world etc. It is being held in a much bigger venue/space this year (in the Tokyo Dome complex) than last year due to the new popularity and growth of the "sport". There are a bunch of studios in Tokyo that give lessons to amateurs interested in it only as a form of gymnastics and dance or whatever. You get the idea. Maybe it will be an Olympic sport someday!

Here

is a video of a performance from the winner of last year's competition in the men's "division". I am not clear if it is his winning performance or simply one of his routines. If you go to

http://www.polechampionship.com/

and use the pull down menus under "Women" and "Men", you can see similar videos for the other main competitors this year. You can also find a bunch by searching on YouTube etc, if you are interested.

I am in the loop on this only because one of the favorites in the women's division in this year's competition is a good friend of mine.
