Hey all- I am looking to transfer couple hundreds to an existing friend in Europe. We have known each other a while but we both want to respect each other's privacy. Paypal is not an option. I am traveling to US next week and was wondering if there are any pre-paid cards that i can buy and just email her the card number with PIN. Would that work? Are there such cards that can be purchased in one country and used in another? Are there any other methods to transfer money that will protect identity on both sides? ty

Given the latest financial rules in place, globally, it's really difficult to send money anonymously in the manner you'd like to.

Those pre-paid cards have limitations on where and how you can use it. Some cannot be used in different geographic locations. It is possible to withdraw cash from pre-paid cards so long as it's done from an ATM that can be used by the pre-paid card backer. Again, there could be currency and location restrictions attached... there are too many pre-paid types out there to really narrow down what will and won't work.

Sometimes, escorts take Amazon gift cards for deposits and that can be anonymous - but it's of course limited to use on Amazon, etc. Plus, there are restrictions on the usage of the card to which Amazon site you can use it on.

Bitcoin has been very reliable in keeping identities hidden... and it's not so hard to cash out if each side has set themselves up properly to do so.

The problems with Bitcoin are that 1) network / exchange fee 2) exchange rate fluctuation so unless both sides agree on narrow range of numbers and not exact numbers, but yeah, probably one of the most private ways, but you would have to create sub wallets and not use your main wallets if I remember correctly, after all, you are most likely gonna need to use a legit exchange to convert your currency into bitcoins, and if people can link back the wallets and transaction histories it's not exactly that private.

That's very true, but typically, you create a wallet for a specific purpose and not link it to other wallets you may use.

That's correct and that's what was inferring when I mentioned the part about being setup properly to do so... Most people that I've encountered won't bother to go through the effort to set it up. That all said, we've been using BTC successfully for a number of years now to collect payments and also pay for services where bitcoin was the preferred currency of choice.

At least, your immediate personal details are not readily accessible until an exchange gets hacked or there's a leak and wallets can be linked to real people.

Oh, and exchange/processing fees are hard to avoid whenever there's a FX happening.

I was going to say Crypto.... doesn't need to be Bitcoin, can be a lesser known coin, less risk of fluctuation, some would argue less secure, but anonymous for your intended purposes... The Exchange would require identifications, but not share those details. Or... you could just buy something of value (ie: stamp, coin, comicbook, etc. and post it) They could then sell it on their side... Travelex used to have a card that you could load and use it like MasterCard or similar.... again, not sure about details required.... Let us know what you decide and find out. Keep your transaction below $5000/equivalent to not have to report/complete government documents.
