U.S. 2028 Presidential Election Season and General U.S. Politics Thread

Somehow Donald Duck reminds me of Donald Trump🤔

View attachment 27876
The White House not too long ago posted a fake magazine cover of Trump wearing a crown. Last year Trump famously raised his hand in defiance after the shooting in Pennsylvania. Somehow the two images combined in my head when I saw that poster from Tokyo Disneyland.

On top of all that, Donald Trump makes about as much sense as Donald Duck does when talks. Or, should that be Daffy Duck actually?

Well, Signal was nice while it lasted....

Here's an interesting chat between Jon Stewart and Maria Ressa. I dropped it in right at the part where she talks about how Duterte seized power in the Philippines and the parallels with what's happening in the US right now.

It's beating a dead horse at this point but holy fuck the absolute screeching meltdown the entire GOP would have had if someone from Biden's staff/cabinet (no idea what the word is right now) did the same thing that these idiots did would have been heard on Saturn.

I especially love how brazenly they're lying about it. They lied a bout there being no classified info, and no war plans, but the texts have been released and there absolutely was classified info (including the name of an active CIA operative), and there were war plans (Hesgeth literally laid out the timeline of the Houthi attack with timestamps).

But it's ok, no big, woopsie doodle, just move on, how about remove the courts so no one can challenge Dear Orange Leader anymore?

The orange dude just announced tariffs on all cars imported into the country. Absolute madness, any chance this guy can get forced out of office?

At this stage I'm fairly sure they're letting him go full train-of-thought in preparation for an Amendment 25 vote. If they can get 2/3, then they can boot him - and the USA gets a new commander puppet in chief.

And the Oval Office gets a new sofa.

There's a lot more GOP rumblings since this last fiasco and the way the white house is handling it. If they want to keep their seats next election (Unless Musk knows how to hack voting machines) they've gotta wise up.

He won't need to hack them, he's trying to make voter roll reviews part of DOGE's purview, i.e. he could use the shitton of data he already hoovered out of the federal government servers to specifically cull left-leaning voters from voter rolls in future elections.

In hindsight I really have to thank Trump.

I had been wanting to move for so long but I kept saying "Oh I have relatives" "Oh America is improving" "Oh I can still do good here and make a difference!"

12+ years of fighting for change. And even people who are (almost) literally getting shat on think we are "winning". Conservatives are cheering us destroying age old alliances with Europe, Canada, etc.

I'm at the point of thinking it's a complete lost cause but this was definitely the moment of "No matter what I do even locally, no matter how many hours I pour in or money I invest, FOX will always have them brainwashed." Even Fed Workers who were laid off. So at least it kicked my rear straight out.

Cheeto Benito just unmasked us for the world, and perhaps worse showed how little even conservatives care about the bare minimum. The anti war group is suddenly fine seizing and invading neighbors.

Be really funny if Japan, China, etc went full nuclear and started selling off the government bonds they have. In a bunch of batches but until the USA backs down. USA has to understand it may be the (a at this point) superpower it is still reliant on the rest of the world.

Also- more funny. Toyota makes most of its cars in America. Based on the tariff structure, with escalating tariffs based on how many parts are made externally vs internally, it will be GM and other American branded autos hit worse. And it's not like they can just up and move- it takes years to build a factory. Ford will 100% take a massive hit. GM too. Even Tesla! Meanwhile some of the most popular Japanese and German models won't. The plan, like always, is so fucking poorly thought out. Even the Viet car brand VinFast, perhaps the worst in America, will be fine (soon) with their new plants in the Southeast.

Edit: literally since I posted this was alerted that all federal unions (sans about 20% of employees) are cancelled. Apparently Fed Workers are "vital to national security". And yet they are also "freeloaders" who need to work in the private sector. This man is an idiot. Like, we always knew this. But he's been turned completely loose with a gun and a sledgehammer and he's firing at everyone while attacking the foundations.

Yeah, we always knew that, but what I am surprised by is how maliciously stupid so many of my fellow Americans are. That was a surprise in 2016, and in 2020-2024, I actually was utterly shocked how widespread that malicious stupidity actually was ingrained in our country. Like you, I don't think this country is salvageable anymore.

Decades at this rate. Even if the next presidential election swings back to sanity, I think most historical allies won't be as accepting as 2020. Definitely a 'fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me' scenario.

It is going to take years for the US to recover from all the damage that has been done just during the past couple of months.
I honestly don't think we ever will get back to where we were without major changes to our format of government. As long as one person can do this level of damage in 2 months with no oversight or pushback, no other country will trust us, even with sane leadership, because it could be as little as 4 years before everything is undone again.

We will cease to be the center of the world, and we will never get back there.

Don't you mean, "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again"?

Holy fuck it's not even been three months. Didn't realize that til a news report. Were this fucked and we aren't even 1/16th in.

We have people kidnapped on streets and we aren't even 1/16th in.

We've threatened to invade Panama, Greenland, Canada and aren't even 1/16th in.

Hell we've burned all our political goodwill from Japan to Europe and we have just started. This would usually be rock bottom not the start.

I was trying to trade the stock market "bounce back" as there always is. Even failing companies have a "Dead Cat Bounce" . Of course the new auto tariffs cut the bounce back short. While a technical market "Crash" has not yet happened, it def feels like we're headed there. Really crazy to me as it seems like Trump refuses to give the market time to breath. Theories abound, but considering America's insane over leveraged ballooning debt economy, the last thing I'd wanna do as president is pop that bubble. I'm gunna post screen shots of Japan's bubble as well as America's current chart (the 2008 world economic crisis "Crash" will pale in comparison to the coming crash). Its Not like America has a completely overpriced real estate market that has become overly speculative just like Japan did before the bubble popped......
