Hey Folks,
While I was in Kabukicho, I had an opportunity in the evening to catch up with my Japanese speaking friend and wanted to make the most of it. We headed over to Torikizoku for some yakitori. Had a great time eating various cuts of chicken and just chatting away. Towards the end of the meal, I suggested we head over to SOD LAND. I wanted to experiencing something that I would be uncomfortable going as a non Japanese speaking foreigner. SOD LAND is marketed as an Adult Theme Park. It is more of a concept bar that was created by Soft On Demand (Japanese AV Company). Either way, I wanted to have an opportunity to meet and interact with JAV performers.
When we entered the shop, the reception desk is on the 1st floor. There are total of 4 floors and a Basement. I am not sure the foreigner policy, but they allowed me in with my Japanese friend. The Front Desk explained the concept. You are charged a fix price per hour, and each floor has different themes. When you enter each floor, you are required to purchase a drink. They provide a drink menu with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a food menu. Once you check in, they put a wrist band with a QR code. Every time you order something, the QR code is scanned. The bill is settled when you leave the facility. There is no limit on how short or long you say.
Basement:
We decided to go to the basement as our first stop. When you enter the basement, there are around 4 small counters / bars. Each bar has girl behind it that is wrapped in a white bath towel. The SOD employee directs us to the bar that had a spot for us. From my observation, each bar had 4-5 patrons. Once we arrived, we were given a drink menu to order from. The girl behind the counters pours us the drink while we casually chatted. Felt like chatting with a flirty bartender. They also had various drinking games you could participated in. Found out the girl that was serving us was not a JAV performer, which was a bummer. She was still cute and a fun time chatting with her.
4th Floor: Silent Bar
We decided to experience all the floors, so we told the SOD Staff we wanted to head to the 4th floor. He radio ahead to the top floor to let them know we were on our way. When we entered the 4th floor, it was setup similar to a strip club with no pole. There was a runway / stage in the middle of the room, with chairs along the side of the stage. This was an interesting concept. You were not allowed to speak to the girls. Instead they had you wear a mask with a one way mirror on it. You can basically stare at the girls, and they cannot see what you are looking at. The moment I sat down, i was immediately handed the drink menu. When you purchased a drink, you could have the girls perform various sexy acts. The girl I selected was wearing the classic playboy bunny outfit with the ears, little cotton ball tail, and fishnet. Its Basically like a strip club, but dressed in sexy outfits (no nudity). Sadly to say, the girls were not JAV performers, but hired to be performers at the shop. She was definitely attractive and knew how to be very sexy.
3rd Floor: Evening Bar
When we came down to the 3rd floor, it had a horse shoe shaped bars with the girls wearing evening dresses in the middle. We were seated at the bar and ordered a drink. The girl we were paired with was an actual JAV performer, Miyanoki Shunka. There was no crazy concept or offering, basically you have the opportunity to chat with the girl. I had a great time chatting with her and asking all the various questions.
2nd Floor: Office Lady
This floor had a about 4-5 standing desks. The girls were dress in office lady attire, basically a white blouse with a pencil skirt. We bought the obligated the drink and chatted with the girl. She was nice, but not MCOT. We chatted for a bit and called it a night

When we were done, we headed down to the 1st floor. They scanned the QR code on the wristband and tallied up our tab. We paid and left the store
Overall thoughts.
Overall it was an "OK" time. Nothing overly sexy or erotic about the experience. If you do not speak Japanese or have a Japanese speaking buddy, your enjoyment will be limited. This is something I've been wanting to do, so I was happy I got to experience it. The sad part is that you cannot select which girl you are matched up with. They basically guide you to a counter that has space available.
Would I go back, probably not. I did enjoy the Silent Bar and interacting with an actual JAV actress. We ended up being their for 2 hours, but could have been done in an hour, I just mismanaged my time. I've seen old review of SOD LAND online, and its different now. I believe it was shutdown recently, and the shop had to make changes to comply with the Law. As for the monetary damage, I actually forgot how much the exact cost. I believe for the 2 of us, it was in the 30k range for 2 hours and drinks. Not the cheapest, but it was something I wanted to try.
