Posting this in the off topic session since it's a question not related to Japan.

So I've noticed lately that all the colorful and interesting post titles and descriptions in escort advertisements on the site have gone away. Now girls literally just post a phone number as the title and that's all that's in the body of the post. The pictures are still there though and the city they're in.

Have any American mongers noticed this? I'm wondering if there was some kind of new crackdown that prompted it. I'm just curious because it makes finding an escort that much more of a headache.

The massage ads of parlors haven't changed much. In fact, i see more and more ads for asian places offering BBBJ. These are the ones run out of apartments rather than shops. Is that an import from Japan that's becoming popular here?

Just trying to figure out WTF is happening to the monger world over here.

Government crackdown on Backpage, same as they did to Craig'sList.

Yeah, I remember in the news that the head honcho was in some hot water over the adult classifieds but even after they shut that down, business went on as usual with all the ads moving into the dating and massage sections of the site. But just in the last few weeks things have totally gone bonkers. Guess all the girls are afraid of getting busted.

But then they have all these fake Facebook and Twitter links in their posts too and that's weird. It's like you want to click them but you know they're fake.

Could it be only the city you were looking at? I randomly took a look at where I know escorts advertise and seems the same to me. Perhaps it’s an individual state or city crackdown?

Isn't backpage full of cops and ripoffs? It's been that way in my city ever since my their police department set up a brothel.

I have definitely seen some young hot police women in Japan I would not mind taking for a spin. :D

Oh man, I was in the station once at shift change time to pay a ticket... the difference when they change out of uniform and do their hair and makeup is amazing.

I wonder if police income is so low that they had to make the brothel as a side business?

When one of the brothels in Nevada fell behind on taxes it was seized by the IRS. Under law the IRS had to operate the business until it paid back the back taxes.

For a period of time you could go to Nevada and fuck an IRS employee....

I bet it became the most popular Nevada brothel in no time!

At least if they offered anal. Without lube. As an eye for an eye kind of thing.

For Backpage there's fake social media accounts because they require a linked social media account and it's all phone numbers because they took away the ability to post anything else. The amps still have actual ads because the changes only affect new ads and the amps have dedicated promoters that keep the old ads alive. Pretty sure it's some sort of legal trouble, although I don't understand what the point is as it just makes BP dating section even less legitimate while also making it harder to track ads if you're law enforcement and looking for legitimate trafficking or child prostitution. End result will probably be that Backpage dies for escorting classifieds and everyone moves to a different site, either something new or regional sites.

I’ve never toured the US, so I can’t comment on what the current status of BP is there. I do know that I advertised on BP for my first tour of Japan back in 2015, and it was still called ‘Backpage’. From 2016 onwards, I have used the same login to log into what was my BP account, and have continued to advertised there. The only difference is that my ad now appears on the site ‘Cracker’ in Japan. There does appear to be a lot of dubious ads on there, which can make anyone who sees my ad on Cracker very sceptical.

Good answer, that totally covers the question. Interesting.. yes, of course doing this would not help enforcement to safe trafficking victims or underaged girls but its never about that for them. If they let only a phone number be posted, there is not gonna be any naughty words or hotness so it looks like the vice is gone.

Now that's the kinds of insight I was looking for. Thank you for sharing. That explains a lot. Seems like almost all the ads in NY, LA and a few other areas I spot-checked are now on the new format so we can probably assume it's nationwide.

Everyone, thanks for the input and theories as well. I haven't been online much lately. Just so you know, I've tested several of these ads and found legit providers, including some indies and some agency girls. But at this point I'm not even sure if I'd recommend using that site anymore as much as I used to. Maybe in Asia and other regions but probably not at home in the States. Too many issues.

The sad thing is, BP was actually pro-active reporting suspected child issues to the police. But politicians have to get involved...
