What's your favorite upscale hotel in Tokyo you've stayed at?

That’s surprising. Elevators do require key cards to operate, but I would always sneak in with other guests as if I had booked a room there :D A valid explanation could be that @Anna Summer and I never encountered problems simply because we are foreigners and receptionists assumed we are guests staying at the hotel.
If you stay at Shinagawa Strings, meet your lady on the ground floor of the building complex. (These complex buildings have leisure & shopping facilities on the ground floor, offices on the bottom half of the building and top floor are usually reserved for hotel area.)

This topic has been discussed before many times, and nowadays I’m in quarantine but here are my top favs:

Winners: Aman (amazing floor heated bathrooms with a city view) and Andaz
Runner ups: Peninsula, Park Hyatt, Shangri La, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton, Grand Hyatt, The Prince Gallery (transparent bathrooms ;) )
Never slept ar Andaz but for the rest I find it over-rated . Good party rooms and views from the top floor though. But are the bedrooms that good?

I like the use of mass timber in their room interior, the simple yet elegant decorations adorning the walls, and the tuna salad at the lobby restaurant. Plus I’m always game for floor to ceiling windows with a good view of Tokyo Tower. Besides their style matching my aesthetics, my legs fit into their bathtubs which are almost the size of a children’s pool. That’s good enough for me :D The king size rooms in particular gives the feeling of visiting an upscale residence instead of a hotel room.

I like their heated swimming pool as well.

This post was not sponsored by Andaz. But if they would like to sponsor me, I’m open to business proposals! :p

thanks, good review! ;)

may do a staycation then... probably not so hard to get good deals at all those hotels nowadays

Has anyone ever stayed at the Gajoen in Meguro?
I know its mostly for weddings and corporate banquets, and its VERY Japanese, but if the rooms are as flashy and « bubble economy style » as the entrance floor it must be something

Wow that place is incredibly cheap for how great it looks. 30k with breakfast for the luxury room incl. tax??

Well they cater mainly to weddings guests (or seminars etc) so in the current environment they must be even harder hit than the other luxury hotels

Sounds like my old house on the beach in Florida (minus Tokyo tower) but the light show over the gulf blows that away.
Sorry for derailing but it brought back a good memory.

Carry on

Yes. Amazing bathrooms.

Little bit off topic, but paying over the top for accommodation is one thing I really don’t understand.
I’m happy to drop 40,000yen at a girls bar, or have have a 50,000 yen dinner, but paying over 20,000yen for a hotel room seems a waste to me.
The other thing I don’t get is expensive cars.
To me a car is something to get from a to b, and a hotel room is a place to sleep.
Last night I was staying n a 4 star hotel.
Staff were twats, internet was slow...

tonight I’m in a route inn. Just had a bath, drinking in the lobby while I wait for my clothes to dry.
Route Inn wins big time .

overall I agree with you . I splurge on hotel rooms very rarely (and usually with a SB)
The reason I slept in some hotels mentioned above is that for a few years I was posted abroad but came often to Tokyo for business.

I do get both the expensive hotels and good cars. I mean driving an expensive fast car you can feel the road so much better. And you can feel your dick go double in size making it a full 3 cm long.

But I am not willing to pay the price they ask for that. Similarly I see that a 100.000 yen pussy can be better than a 50.000 yen pussy but as it's not twice as good I won't be paying that price either.

The reason I don't want to say "I don't get it" is that if I miraculously get so much money that I don't need to care how much a car, a hotel room or a pussy costs I will definitely go for the more expensive one in all categories.

Don't see that happening ever so I will continue to select a car that takes me from one place to another, a hotel room that has a roof and a bed and a pussy that costs only as much as I can throw away without remembering how much it was.

Cars ar just bigger watches to show off how much money you have. Pretty simple actually.

And a hotel room is just a mini version of your house. Without any of your stuff. But full of their stuff. That has been used by thousands of people that you don't know, in ways that you don't want to know about.:)

That's quite possible, but certainly asian (in appearance) and other western escorts have reported problems there in the past. It's just a simple warning that it could happen, not that it will everytime. Only 2 escorts that I know of were fully refused entry, others managed their way in eventually.

Kinda agree.. but I'll admit to enjoying nice rooms on the company dime. Don't have much of choice in smaller cities, but I usually get booked into the Conrad or Intercontinental when there's a hotel in the location I'm going to.

Would I book a suite on my own? Not unless there's some good merit as to why I should.

If I get a beautiful high rise room with a great view I tend to spend more time in the room instead of sightseeing simply because I already have that covered. I definitely wouldn't spend more than 1 night in a 25k+ room though if I'm alone. I only stay in the high end rooms if I recently had a great day at work and made extra money anyway as a celebration.

The best cars are junker bodies with high performance parts under the hood. Sleeper pink slip procurers.

The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho is my personal favorite. Super clean, nice views, sick bathroom. Also, if you can get the Villa Suite at the Shinjuku Granbell at a good price. That room has an outdoor private tub, indoor shower and the works.

The Shinjuku Granbell Villa Suite is quite amazing. Loved that outdoor bath tub and brings back great memories
