It never was really alive in Japan. Your comments related to papakatsu and/or escorts is valid and there are definitely a lot more women now in those categories.

This is probably true too... but @majimekun has it about right from what I can tell when it comes to papakatsu or escorts.

I had so many matches on Tinder but they never went anywhere. It was usually a few chats and then they'd ghost. (Not unmatch, just go quiet...)

the Bumble app is a little different in functionality but the same results as Tinder. (IMHO)

Had three tinder dates. Went to hotels with 2 out of 3 of them. Last one was a chill, breasty mature - she ended it because she felt like she couldn't perform as I wanted. 1) I'm 2016 when I was still single.
2) Nope! At the time was there even a paid version of Tinder?
3) She was in her early 30s and quite attractive. Quite direct, though. I once asked her about her job and she said "It's boring, I don't want to talk about it." We met up twice in January and then I invited her on Valentine's Day to my apartment and we fucked. Met her again a week later in Shinjuku and got pretty hammered and made out in front of the Shinjuku Sanchome entrance. I met around 28 people from Tinder over 3 years, out of which I slept with 13. 4 ending up staying with me for varying amounts of time, with the minimum living in my apartment for 3 months. It was an amazing experience. All of these were unpaid dates. But in the long run, the expectations were really high - as in marriage or some level of permanent commitment, which I'd rather it comes naturally. Didn't work out. Also, a lot of the women whom I met told me that my Instagram (which is linked to my Tinder account and full of travel pictures from different places I've been to because of work) was why they initially met me.
