My job's travel criteria is forcing me to choose amongst only 4 hotels (Shinagawa area) as opposed to me choosing what and where I would like to stay, even if my choice would be cheaper.

If you had to choose (based on quality, closeness to train, and most important... accessibilty) which would be the best:

Marriott Tokyo Hotel (Shinagawa)
Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa
Shinagawa Prince Hotel
Grand Prince Takanawa

They usually reserve club level

Check out Shinagawa Prince Hotel, Millennial Floor at the Annex Tower. The rooms there have been recently renovated. The hotel is about 400 metres from the train station.

It’s good value for money based on the location and facilities, including restaurants.

Unfortunately our reservation portal does not offer rooms at the annex. We do have a ceiling of 25,000 however. There are ways of getting a room elsewhere if under the cap, but there first has to be no other option from the approved list available.

The 3 Prince Hotels are a better location IMO. I like hanging out in Shinagawa.
But Marriott is prob a better quality.

This website may help you to decide. Marriot Tokyo is in Shinagawa-ward, and the others are in Minato-ward.

It seems that there are no problem as far as accessibility is concerned. However, to club level, as you know, usually needs a room card to access the floor.

Curious, the link mentions the Keikyu Ex hotel as an acceptable place to order deriheru yet I stayed there (about a year and a half ago) and they had signs on every floor and reception even warned me about having guests. I mentioned to Rikako that I was staying there and she refused to go there because it was considered a business hotel.

So do these business hotels really enforce this?

I have been refunded exactly once in Japan and that was the Sofitel in Nagoya(and that was a friend not an escort or something). I'm not really testing business hotels though, as the rooms are usually on the small side.
I never had any troubles with Hiltons, which is my go-to brand. I believe the experience will be similar with other hotels that category.

The signs are there precisely because it is so easy to get people into rooms as there is no security on the elevators. I've had many a good night at the Keikyu Ex.
TGIF in the basement to warm up with a few Hendriks G&T. Singapore Republic (Asian girls love this place for some reason, pretty meh to me) Crab for dinner, then the wine bar on the 2nd floor of the bldg up the escalator from Mackky Ds.

Used to be the Meridian (I think) and was 5 star in the 90s, but got a bit older and now has gone to a 3 star place. Big rooms and the window sills are great for banging.
If on the West side on the upper floors you get a great view of Mt Fuji on a fine day. One of my finest P4P experiences was doggy style standing up while the sun set over Fujisan.

If Rikako refuses to go there then she is a bit too uptight IMO. Clean rooms, but the fixtures are a little dated.

Agree with all of the above. Rikako insisted on a LH for whatever reason.

Didn't have good experiences at the TGIF. Both times they sat me next to the smoking section with the rest of us filthy gaijins and the hot girl (asst manager) who took my order must really hate tourists.
I tried to be respectful where I go and greet everyone in my best basic japanese as she shoves the english menu my way. Upon hearing this, she then ripped off a whole conversation in the fastest nihongo i've heard. I politely said eigo hannesemaska as best I could. She corrected my pronounciation like speaking to a 2 year old and then repeated what she said in a perfect westerner english, but slowly so my dumb gaijin brain could understand it more clearly....

That sucks.
Sounds like a bitch of a waitress.
Usually meet friends there, sit at the bar and catch up before heading to more adventurous locales. Wish they'd ditch smoking at the bar.

Was a great staging point during the Rugby World cup, esp when the games were in Yokohama.

Only had to deal with her once. The girl who served me my stuff was sweetly funny. She was like a skiddish doe, practicaly terrified coming to my table. A simple ありがとうございます and she exploded in relief and kindness. It was funny to watch....

Based purely on location and convenience I would take the Prince Hotel opposite the station. I would delay my booking as late as possible and hope these hotels were full so I could book a better hotel - maybe in nearby Shiodome. Shagging in the Conrad and Shagging in the Prince ....seem like two different sports.:D

Any of the Prince hotels should be fine. I've never stayed at any of them but my cousins often do and they prefer Shinagawa Prince as it's directly in front of the station and they can't possibly get lost (they never lived in Japan). Whenever I'm back in town, I much prefer keeping myself somewhere in the Kanda-Akiba-Ueno region, in no small part because of the proximity to all of the lovely Korean HE joints and ramen shops and Ueno Park for my jogs. But I would imagine that one upside to staying in Shinagawa is the proximity to Gotanda, where obviously much cheap fun can be had and they've got great bars, and then you'd also be near to Odaiba, where you can hunt for lonely old ladies at the tourist onsen. I'm hoping to do some lurking in that area this spring.
