SA - Only seeing a few results in Tokyo?

So I joined SA (not premium) to see whats on there. Set my location to Tokyo, but it is only showing me 11 ladies? Am I doing something wrong? I know there must be more people than that. Are basic members not able to see premium ones or something?

I (a premium member) can see 110 ladies who accessed the site over the last 24 hours in Tokyo. I thought the difference between the premium and basic would be only that basic members cannot exchange messages in practice. You may want to try filling in "Other locations" and choose "Tokyo, Japan" for that column from many candidate locations start with "Tokyo"...

I don't know if they ever fixed it, but at one point SA's location matching software was woefully ignorant of Japanese geography (written by Americans no doubt). For example, if an SB entered her location as Shinjuku or Chuo-ku or whatever area of Tokyo (as many did), it would not show her when you searched for Tokyo.

Maybe try searching all of Japan; most SBs on SA are in the Tokyo area anyway...or at least they were the last time I checked.

Btw, this thread should probably be in the Sugaring forum, shouldn't it?

Sorry about that, missed the Sugaring forum. Maybe admin can move it there.

I did go into other locations, set it to Tokyo and maxed the within range to 1600km and it still only shows 24 women. Some of those in Korea. I submitted a help request with SA. Once they respond Ill post their solution here.

Are you using the app or browser version?
And where are you using the site from, outside or inside Japan?
 
I tried both the browser and app with the same results.

Im outside Japan. But in my SA profile I set my default location to Tokyo. I tried other location too.

Some age or ethnicity etc filter parametered by mistake?

A plain search, setting my location to Tokyo with a distance range of 0-80km and ages 21-36 nets 733 results.

I really wonder if it has to do with being outside of Japan though...

Probably some ladies specify they want SDs in Japan only?

Another suggestion is to click "reset all" to delete search criteria and search again, but I guess you've tried this one, too.

The website has been through some changes recently, like, the url itself, (now seeking.com), the location of the message column on a profile page, and I've just found they resumed profile text search feature (which had been suspended a while). You may be caught in some technical glitches...Wish it solved soon.

Looking from the ladies side of things (Since you told me your name on there) I don't see you at all.
Is your profile still doing that "Under consideration" thing? Sometimes it takes a day or two for them to make your profile active.

I don't encounter the problem when searching from outside Japan and regardless of what I indicate as my location. I also get lots of hits in major cities all over the world, again regardless of where I am or what I list as my location in my SA profile. It only depends on the location you specify in the search parameters in my experience (but I haven't done any searching in quite some time now...many months at least, so a change is possible though unlikely I'd think).

Thanks for all the input. Just to see if it makes a difference, I used a VPN service to make it look like I was located in Japan. And still only 11 results. So I dont think its location related.
Must be that my profile is not finalized/approved yet. I'll check after it's been approved.

Yeah right. But at least that's better than the measly 11 that show up when I search in Tokyo. Can someone confirm, is the official website address www.seeking.com? Or did I sign up for some sneaking copy cat version? Does Japan have it own separate SA website?

I remember their old URL being www.seekingarrangement.com .. but if you click on it or type it in, it’ll redirect you to www.seeking.com . I assume that they changed it because it was too long. Japan doesn’t have its own version as far as I know. You just change your location settings.

Probably weirdness due to location and VPN. There's a TON of girls in the SF area and as previously mentioned there's more than a few in Tokyo area.

I emailed them back asking how I can set my profile to seek both Attractive and Successful female members. I could not find any options to change that in my profile. But it still doesn't explain why there are only 11 female successful members in Tokyo (do most women sign up as free members?). It' beginning to sound like I need a premium account to see all the females.

OH THAT'S WHAT YOU DID.

You accidentally set yourself up as a Male Sugarbaby!!! So you're only seeing the VERY FEW women who are there to be Sugar Mommies, not all the other Sugar Babies!
