I'm curious about this from both sides; have a feeling it really comes down to individual taste but hoping to see some sort of consensus.

For women: what level of make up do you normally wear for a client? On average, how much time do you spend getting ready? 1-2 hours? And perhaps most importantly, how do you get it to stay on? I use primer, waterproof eye liner+mascara and setting spray but it always seems to get messed up in the shower.

For gentleman: what kind of look do you prefer? Do you like a "night out" look, complete with bold eye shadow, contour and a full face of make up? Or would you rather see something more natural that accentuates the girl's natural beauty?

I have olive skin so I need some cool undertones to balance the warmth of my skin. Warm skin combined with warm brown hair can make me look a bit dull without makeup.

My go-to look is pink glossy lipstick, shimmery pink eyeshadow and lots of blush. I love blush and prefer it over contouring or bronzing, I am not too pale anyway. Plus I already have quite prominent facial bone structure therefore I don’t need to sculpt my cheekbones. The final move is to put on burgundy eyeliner: this shade is perfect for dark brown eyes, it makes them look more starry & bright. Recently I love using Dior’s backstage highlighting palette to highlight my cheekbones, inner corners of my eyes, and use the bronze shade of palette to put on a shimmery shadow on my bottom lid.

My nicer features are my glowy skin, my eyelashes and eyebrows. Generally brunettes are blessed with these features. I don’t wear mascara at all. Sometimes I skip on foundation but I have strict skincare regimen as a back up. However.. I have to admit I definitely need to wear concealer. Not a big fan of primers, but I apply eye primer because I use the most amount of product on my eyes.

My makeup inspiration is Estée Lauder’s Global Beauty director Violette. We have very similar complexion and hair and we both love to show our skin but still play with colors.

I wish I could sometimes rock Smokey eyes and red lipstick, but sadly I look like Robert Smith from The Cure if I do that

Summary: My general go to makeup can be summarized as natural glam. Definitely much less than what we see nowadays on social media. Overall it takes 20 minutes. I don’t worry about how long lasting my makeup is at all. First impression is important for clients, so my clients usually love to see me transform from a dolled up woman to messy bed hair and makeup half gone :D I usually re apply my lipstick and set my concealer again before I leave the hotel room.

Whatever it is I like to see that my partner put some efforts and thoughts on it , and it makes her look more beautiful. Especially if we go out dinner. Can’t stand the ones who under the guise of « being natural » are just lazy and don’t give a damn. Same goes for clothing, perfume etc

On other women: I like to see women unleashing their individual creativity and expression when it comes to makeup so I don’t have a preference, except I strongly dislike falsies (Those fake eyelashes they glue on, eeek) or eyelash extensions. Some girls look better more natural, some have the perfect face for a glam makeup. I love it when a hot blonde bombshell wears glittery smokey party makeup, but it would look terrible on me.

I might have a fetish for cute Japanese pedicures  One color fits me better but Asian women look really cute with those mani / pedi they offer in Japanese salons.

Hey Robert Smith was THE idol of my generation’s girls (and gay guys).
About the hair messing while having sex that’s something I always wanted to ask the ladies here because it seems that for many escorts or SBs its like a criminal offense to mess those goddamn sacred hair. Whatever I pay , or do apart from that. You seem to be ok with it and really kudos to you. But the overall « please don’t mess my hair » thing is quite a turn off for me. Why do you think its such a big deal?

I love Robert Smith too! It’s just I don’t want to wear his makeup :D

I don’t know, may be if they have an appointment later on they still need to keep the hairstyle? Some of my civvie friends who wear styling sprays on a daily basis say the hair becomes too rigid so it can break easily.

Not a huge fan of styling products, I never heat style my hair and usually I put up my hair in a bun after appointments. (something I got used to if I have to walk home alone in the dark) I definitely HATE hair pulling tho. > : ( I don’t overstyle my hair but I can see it being a hassle for heat styled hair. Some girls can’t wash their hair very frequently so that style has to survive a few days.

Heat-styled meaning the hair-iron heater thing? (Not sure how to call it , hot dildo for hair...?) if thats so then yes, now I understand. Sorry, as you can see I am not such an expert! :D
Don’t like to pull hair either but being told « be careful my hair! » during the act is not much fun. Happened with 3 or 4 ladies already and never had the courage to ask them frankly why the fuss. Thanks.

For asian females, I prefer a subtle, natural look. Something like Ayase Haruka in general. Eyeliner, foundation and powder to even out skin tone, and then add some very light color if any.

What you describe as a night out look with bold eye shadow, contour, etc, I don’t think looks good on a Japanese female face with less pronounced facial features than faces of other ethnicities.

I always see that in the US with asian girls getting their face done up having learned makeup tips from magazines based on western style faces. Just doesn’t match the face type.

But on western or hispanic face types with pronounced features, the night out look can be nice and sexy. But even then, in general I prefer a subtler version of it, but in the end it all really depends on venue. Think Erica Cerra, she does both well.

Some of the younger girls at work wear so much makeup it readily transfers onto the phones they use. Always makes me think wow, wonder what she looks like under all of that.

I personally go more for a natural look. Too glamerous doesn’t fit me and my style anyways. I would look more painted and ‘fake’ maybe than comfortable. My normal make up takes me 15-20 minutes. Even if I put on eyeshadow. What I consider more than usual is still almost nothing for Japanese standards. I hear a lot that I don’t seem like to use a lot of make up (which is partly true) but I even get that with a bit darker eyeshadow. On the other hand I only use concealer under my eyes, set everything with powder, apply blush and that’s it for my basics.
I started to use brown mascara and eyeliner recently and that works a lot better for a softer look. At the end of the day, I’m always thinking that I have to remove it. So I try to not put too much on. Makes make up removing much easier :D

For me it’s mainly about the length(down to my waistline). I rarely wear my hair open for sexy bed time because it literally gets everywhere :dead: and also gets stuck between arms and bodies.... :p
so if someone ever wondered while I usually have my hair tied up, that’s one of the reasons

It’s flat iron Frenchy, not “hot dildo for hair” :D :D (or curling wand for curls) Yes, by heat styled hair I mean making use of these gadgets. My flat iron is getting dusty in my storage, could actually donate it to someone in need.

When I used to heat style my hair I didn’t like it to get messy. It’s natural to get pissed off after you spend 30 minutes to do your hair!

It takes literally less than 5 minutes to apply my full makeup.
Not that I want to look natural all the time but more like I don’t have any skill. I am not really interested in high brand makeup items either.
Cheaper stuff is good enough for my poor technique.

Many of my friends around my age spend so much money on skin care item for obvious reason but are they really that effective?
They spend good 20k on their skin care items only every month. Mine is like what, 500yen face wash, 1000yen face cream and 800yen makeup remover so less than 3,000yen.

I would rather use cheap item diary and spend bigger money on surgery; not hard core cut-and-lift but more like hyaluronic acid injection or raser brown spots removal or something you can actually see the clear difference.

Yeah well you know I always take the clients’ standpoint ... its natural to get pissed off after you spend 50k or so to be able to mess those hair! :D (Not that its my primary motivation though)

It usually takes me one hour to get myself ready for an appointment (shower, hair, makeup, etc). Since I wear light makeup, I spend around 5-10mins on my face. My go to routine is a light layer of foundation, powder, blush and eyeliners. I am naturally more tanned during the summer so I don’t even wear any foundation during those months.

I prefer ladies with a more natural but well kept look. I don’t care for heavy makeup or a dramatic look so much. The last thing I would want is her makeup to be smeared all over the pillowcases.

Dramatic makeup doesn’t work that well with blonde and light skin either. I have to wear the light brown and gold eyeshadows and no smokey blacks. I also feel like darker makeup makes me look older, even if done well.
Powder is an absolute must for me on most days, against some redness. But I don’t really keep it up during a session, its not the end of the world if it fades.
I go for natural makeup because i can do it fast and i think my clients prefer it, i can do it in 5-10 minutes.

I don’t use heath on my hair either usually.

When I was much much younger, I didn’t quite realize how much make-up some women would use -and, in those cases, dramatically change their appearance. Sure, I recall scenes of my own mother applying make-up before going out for dinner or a concert with Dad ( and Chanel No. 5 , which made me recoil at the unseen horror of it all as I recognized it when making out with a girl in college). However that was in my recollection, a bit of blush, eyeliner .... none of the minor surgery-like procedures like false eyelashes or industrial-grade liquid foundation.

Some or many women are fortunate to have that natural beauty and are able to get away with applying minimal makeup that accentuates their features, rather than replacing them all-together. However, I guess some require depend on rather dramatic intervention to achieve a look that naive innocents like me often mistake for their natural beauty.

My color cosmetic cherry was rudely broken in my 20’s when a mucho older cougar... a still single executive secretary decided to pick me up. Noriko was her name. I don’t know if it’s a perk firms still have but it seemed to be some private hotel that her firm had an account with - a highflying engineering firm that I think was on TSE1.. It was just before New Year’s ( I attended the drinking party carrying my overnight bag as I was spending New Year’s with the family of a Japanese friend from college ... I was too green to think how it looked to her at the time... ) . Anyways , what I recall most was not the sex but the memory of waking up in the morning to find her gently kissing me. I opened my eyes ...
right into the eyes of SOMEONE I DID NOT RECOGNIZE & WHOSE EYES LOOKED LIKE A PIG! and actually screamed ( like a little girl). Thank God it wasn’t a “he” but it might have been. Her face sans maquillage looked completely changed. Gone were the wide sexy vivid eyes replaced with scary ones like you might see on a pig. Her eyebrows thin and anorexic. She, of course, interpreted my squeal as one of delight...

One woman I’m in love with ( she’s not in love with me)... I guess she’d be around the same age as that cougar but looks far younger ( even to seasoned Japanese eyes, not naive gaijin ones ). And, as far as I know she has that natural beauty I indicated earlier. That said, I know she does her eye lashes about every five weeks or so, and false nails every month. Never noticed any massive applications of foundation ... which means she doesn’t cover up the inevitable but kinda sexy light crows feet and lines under and around her large eyes ( no surgery on em either ). ( Foundation, even that mineral-based powder shit/merde/kuso/dritta ..Shiseido acquired bare essentuals 10+ years ago ... if one leaves it one before going to bed is guaranteed to wreck and age one’s complexion in two weeks. The equivalent of sleeping with your contact lens in).

Maybe whatever the situation or condition of one’s features or natural beauty etc., the issue of make-up for men is ... in general we will rave over whatever looks beautiful ( whether the makeup is minimal or applied to the max) BUT we just don’t wish to see the actual props or makeup behind the beauty. Kinda like sausages... we prefer eating them and generally do not wish to know nor see how they are actually made.

Natural beauty ...Most women have it ..So cosmetics should only highlight it IMO... Bring out the eyes a bit. ..Lip treatment to keep them soft and supple, then ur done ... So many skin types levels of oil or dryness. . Each woman knows her own skin. ..So they treat it accordingly ...
I think self image has a bigger impact on make up than need or requirements ...
Everyone wants to look nice but if you are piling on layer after layer then that surely can't be good for your skin... And then u have to worry about it getting messed up or rubbed off ...
Keep it simple and balanced ...
My 2¥ worth . ..:D

Wow, you're quite speedy! And fair point with clients enjoying the transformation from prim and proper to post-sex mess.

I think we're in the same boat. I'm no make-up master, so there's no sense in paying 5,000 yen for a tube of lipstick. I respect the hell out of make up artists though, I could never.

yeah I thought that a lot of men might prefer a more natural look..just so they have that guarantee of waking up to a face they can recognize :nailbiting:

Well, there’s always the classic school of thought regarding the average man’s impression of cosmetics usage...

But seriously, I’ve always had a thing for cholas and goth/metal girls, heavy on the darker colours, bold eyes and lips.
