Greetings!

We are pleased to announce the schedule that will finally bring out TAG v3.0 for public consumption.

The most immediate things that you should be aware of:

• No new members will be admitted from 00:01 on August 31, 2022. New: 18:00 August 30, 2022.
• Review system will stop accepting new reviews on August 31, 2022 (Now Closed)
• Reviews submitted by August 31, 2022 and meet approval criteria, will be published on September 1, 2022. [Completed, Review System is now closed.]
• TAG will go into a read-only mode on September 3, 2022 (At about 21:00 JST)
• TAG will remain in read-only mode until the major pieces are completed. Members may change their account details (avatar, password, email and other settings) during the read-only phase, but these changes WILL NOT be carried over, please note.
• Members with Authentication Tokens for 2FA purposes, please ensure that your credentials are working and that you have your backup codes just in case. (Please check here)
• Existing Members: Please be sure that you know your password and/or your registered email address is working. (Check your details here)

This a very involved overhaul and while there have been no issues in testing, anything can (and probably will) go wrong. The read-only version of TAG will remain available until we are ready to throw the switch to re-route traffic to the new systems. There is a backout plan established and has been tested to assure that we can simply revert things to how they are today in the event of a catastrophic failure.

Under the current plan, certain functions of TAG will gradually return as stability is confirmed. There will be end-user issues, but it is expect that these will clear up quickly. Those that are not logged in, have not logged in for a long period of time or have invalid email addresses, will face the larger challenges. Note: The support desk will NOT be available until TAG itself is back to a working condition.

Information will be updated in this news prior to the site closure and we will update this as well during the ongoing work to report on progress.

Thanks for your patience during this extensive work. The goal is to have everything working by September 5th and will have ongoing bug fixes as needed. Please also note that we will NOT release all the graphics options right away. These will be rolled out after all basic functions are working as intended.

Update:

- Adjusted the new member cutoff date/time due to time needed to finish cleaning up member data prior to final data conversion. An issue was discovered in testing yesterday wherein certain specific conditions, some data fields were not properly converted resulting in corrupted data. Further time is needed to perform QA/QC on the conversion to assure that the countermeasures put in place are in fact working as designed. This was an edge case that wasn't detected in earlier testing, apologies to those who could not join the site after 18:00 JST today.

- No further changes to plan for now, please watch this space for updates as we inch closer to the project rollout.

Update:

- In light of the new member restriction, we have relaxed the guest viewing limits slightly to give non-members a bit more to read while new member acceptance is currently closed.

- Initial processing of member data reveals a lot of invalid registered email addresses. Those accounts with invalid email address will not be able to access system functions such as password resets to unlock or retrieve an existing account. We will establish a special workflow to handle members who have lost access to their accounts once the site changes are in place. Please DO NOT create a new account if you already have one, please ask for help. Finally, those accounts with invalid data will be suspended automatically but can easily be corrected with updating your account with a valid, working address. (Note: Those who cannot reset their password automatically, please use the forthcoming workflow link to get assistance once released.)

- SSO/SNS Login Concerns - Due to the major overhaul, it is possible that social logins may be reset. Initial testing has demonstrated that some members may need to reauthenticate after the site changes are completed. We expect to offer additional security tools and authentication options post-upgrade. Currently, we only offer Twitter & Google authentication along with the standard standalone TAG system, please check back for changes at a later date.

- Verified Members & SSA's with elevated privileges - These features will not be immediately available, there is no need to report this issue as it will be resolved soon after the site update is completed.

- Display Issues - Currently, it is a known issue that once traffic is routed to the new TAG, many members and guests may experience graphical display issues. This is a caching issue with old content, but should resolve on its own after a few visits to the new site. We will roll-out the base version of TAG (blinding white light) and add other graphical options once stability is confirmed. (Note: It is a very high priority to make sure that the basic night/dark mode version is available quickly after the switchover.) There will be a 'business' version of TAG which had been highly requested to make site viewing easier in public areas. This will be a very generic graphic set that just looks like a boring company discussion page.

- An issue wherein under certain conditions embedded media carried over from TAG 2.0 fails to be adjusted. [Fix designed, in testing.] ⇒ Staging 9/3 @ 14:22 JST
- An issue wherein uploaded content (attachments, images) are not stored in the most efficient manner. [Fix designed, tested & moved to staging]
