I occasionally used to post on Japan Today after a long hiatus I decided to post again on the "40 percent of young Japanese are virgins." The over zealous moderator took less than 5 minutes to delete my insightful comments. Those bozos make @meiji look like Mother Therese.

The 'offending comments were;

Why wasn't Jesus born in Shibuya?

Because they couldn't find 3 wise men or a virgin...

I don't get the purpose of how they moderate stuff over there. They are fine to let some comments flame onward and others they stop dead cold.

It got particularly bad after after 3/11 with all the FUD being spread.

It looks very arbitrary in how they go about moderating that 'news' page.

Their poor moderation is what killed their forums initially, and continues to relegate them to being a moderately humorous footnote in the various Japan-centric websites.

Being the only English language site that has a contract with Kyodo, they should be a major news site, but they let their commenters drag them down into the mud...
