Had a weird experience where someone from a spot I visited a few weeks ago just rang my phone.

They ask me if its "xxx", im confused because I dont use that name in real life.

I ask who is it and they ask if I just booked girl "yyy" and I am like no.

Then they apologize and say they made a mistake and hang up...

I use really common names when I monger so I can imagine someone using the same name as me booked a girl and then they accidentally called me instead.

I guess the bigger worry is these shops are storing my phone number (customer list)...

Anybody experience the same thing, or worried that their number is out there registered with dodgy shops?

Of course this happens, it's one of the few ways they can ban problem customers. It also works in your favor too, being a repeat client...

There's not a whole lot they can do with your phone number and if you're overly worried about it, you can change it or maybe block calls you don't want.

Using your phone to call a service is common... if they were to break their privacy rules.. they'd lose some serious business.

In this case, it just seems like a clerical mistake with another client. (most likely case)

Get a 050 number. I use a "foreigner" name, hence something in katakana what no japanese person would be called like. Makes things easier, since they know you're "the gaijin" that just booked.

Someone uses their normal phone to call p4p shop? Well, that's a rookie mistake my friend! :p

Yeah, but it's only a big deal if you've got nosy family or your phone number is linked to some public records/social media site, which is a bigger mistake than using it for p4p. :p

I have two phones . Once I made the mistake to "LineFriend" [Redacted] with the "official" one . The guy at their reception kindly accepted to erase all conversations and delete it from their line account in front of me, now we use Line on the other one. I really appreciated their clients service on that occasion.

My work phone number is immediately googlable for reasons beyond my control so using that to call anyone not related to work is a no-no.

In the case of LINE, always use QR Code... never give your LINE ID out if you use one. The QR Code can be set/cancelled/reissued.
And don't put your real name on LINE, even for your private one. :p (Or any ID information, pictures, etc.)

Thanks for the tips!

Yup. Mine too. Work phone stays put away either deeply in my bag or office/home. That is, when I'm out doing non-work stuff.

Oh... and it's worth noting, you should disable your phone's GPS recorder for pictures.
iPhone in particular, records GPS data with pictures unless you turn off the location features for the camera.
It's possible to send out a picture to someone with a lot of data on the picture and not even realize it...

(Edit: Personal preference is to disable all location services until I want to use it.)

Personal preference for me is not to take any pictures in the first place. :p

But that is just me, I also don't want to make any plans. Because that's when they start throwing the word "premeditated" around in the court room!

And yeah, remember to turn off your phone or at least the GPS. Even the Android location history is good enough to pin point the hotel you used...

It's weird but your post reads a bit like you commit murder every time you meet a lady
H in MikeH stands for Hannibal ?!

I swear I am not a serial killer. I found out it needs way more commitment and planning than I am willing to put out.

I specialise in small deaths, both for her and me.

Exactly what a serial killer would say.
Feeling very like General Mellchet today. (Black adder goes forth)

Or General Mills-

I would also add here to do the same for the Apple/Google Maps applications since it also records not only GPS data, but the whole activity in general (searches, directions, frequent locations and etc.). It might be slightly confusing for some iPhone users since settings can be adjusted in Settings app for applications developed by Apple, BUT if you also use Google Maps it has its own settings that you can access from within the app itself (https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3137804?hl=en&ref_topic=6384263).
