i can see some problems (tag has to pay), people gaming the system etc.. but i think its a cool idea in principle

I think the "TAG has to pay" problem is likely to be a total show-stopper unless you can also suggest a way to finance the plan. Are the people who donate their labor for free (I imagine) to keep TAG running also supposed to pay for this intriguing game out of pocket?

That said, the idea reminds me of a monthly lottery which operated briefly on a private (invitation only) board for NYC-Philly area mongers and escorts of which I was a member many years back. The guys who wanted to participate each paid US$100 for a (virtual) ticket, and the board operator picked a (screen) name "out of a hat" to choose a winner. For their part, the escorts who wanted to participate agreed to provide a minimum of a one hour date for however much money was in the winning "pot" up to whatever amount of time and services the "pot" would purchase at her standard rates. The monger who won chose the escort he wanted to see, and the board operator sent her the money. A small amount of money was removed from the pot to pay the server costs for hosting the board for a month; it was a minor amount.

There were about 40 of us on the board, roughly 25 mongers and 15 escorts (don't recall the exact numbers) and most people participated. I think there was US$2000 in the first pot which, ever lucky, I won...seriously! The escort I chose was a wannabe opera performer. Lord, did she ever make some interesting and LOUD sex noises!

The whole thing was discontinued when a member who was an attorney...or maybe in LE...pointed out that the system made running the board illegal and put the board operator at risk of arrest and prosecution. His point was that it is not illegal to talk about doing something that it is against the law, but being involved in actually doing it, even indirectly, was a violation of the law.

I had nearly forgotten the story...thanks for reminding me.

This is an awful idea.

Firstly, because it will provide competition and animosity amongst escorts. Whenever there is a ranking system, some people will always step on others to become number one. Even without a ranking system currently, some escorts are not the friendliest and I can only attribute this to competitiveness.

Secondly, it will be a breeding ground for false reviews. Escorts are not a "one size fits all" situation. Whenever someone offers to write me a review I stress that I want them to be honest as I know it is impossible to please everyone. I'd like anyone who sees me to have a good idea of what I offer in advance. I do not like the idea of encouraging overly positive reviews.

Thirdly, by having an escort chosen for you instead of contacting her yourself, you are more likely to have a bad match which could lead to a bad review, which is unfair on the escort.

Fourthly, as you might have noticed, currently TAG does not have any adverts. They do not have any other income as far as I know.

Personally, if such a system were put in place, I would opt out immediately.

good points.. i hadn't considered it from that point of view.. dropping the ranking idea, maybe it is better - something like what WW says, choose your favourite.. but yes.. seems more barriers than i thought!

Note that the lottery system that I described has none of the problems that @User#16452 mentions (and I agree that they would be serious problems).

While there would probably be some competition among escorts to be chosen by the lucky winner of the lottery, there is no reason that it would be any more intense/serious than the competition for customers in general. In fact, such a system could be run as a lottery among the guys without directly involving or identifying the escorts at all. In other words, the winner could simply receive the prize funds directly himself and spend them as he saw fit...on a TAG or non-TAG escort or to pay his rent for that matter.

However, I don't think the lottery system makes sense for TAG for a different reason. Namely, this is not a small and closed group of people who all know (or at least e-know) each other moderately well and among whom there is a reasonable level of trust, as was the case for the private board I mentioned in the US. It was a terrific small community in many ways. On TAG I think many would worry about the system being corrupt in one of many possible ways.

Out of interest, what would gain TAG from this other than a bunch of people looking for a freebie.
Obviously I wouldn't mind anyone sponsoring me a date with the likes of @User#16452, but I cannot see this contributing anything to this board.

In addition I'm pretty sure it would be illegal unless the service is restricted to what is legal in Japan.

The idea was a way of bringing members and providers together with a fun lottery type system .. And to reward contribution to tag.. But yep I concede it's a terrible idea with loads of holes..sorry !

Financial and logistical complications aside, even if services offered all fell within the confines of what is generally legal and accepted adult services in Japan, it would still be illegal unless the board applied for and received licensing as a fuzoku service.

Has there ever been an attempt to have TAG gatherings? We could just designate some suitable bar, date and time for those who are interested to show up. Maybe it would be nice to have a thread where people could post an indication of their plan to attend, hopefully leading to a "snowball" effect.

Probably more creative ideas are possible.

There is a similar system in a German review board but mostly with some agencies, clubs etc. no independents involved. And not exactly for free. You can get a discount like paying 100€ for 2 hours with an escort instead of paying 310€. But not all of those establishments offering it and also not all escorts are fine with that.

It isn't a bad idea in general but maybe not suitable with the independent escorts on this website.
And on the board I mentioned it's like a motivation to post review about trustworthy providers because they get a 'treat'. (Meh that sounds weird )

In closing:

The whole idea of TAG existing to begin with was to give a clean, non-influenced venue for people to post reviews and discuss things freely. We've never given any benefit to one agency or provider over another. It's a slippery slope if we ever chose to go down such a path and it's just not worth the hassle. An no, we cannot finance anything ourselves since we receive no direct benefit from the content captured here. (Trust me, we'd like to, but it's not as clear cut as it may seem.)

I appreciate where the OP was headed, but it's just not a good idea, at least for TAG.

@danthrope - We got your delete request, but people get suspicious when things disappear without a reason... so I'm just going to leave this here as-is, but locked and moved to 'closed'. (if it's really an issue to leave this out, we'll consider removing it from public view completely)
