is it worth putting a sticky or big notice stating that this is really risky?

i performed this on a sex worker and got really worried after realising it was possibly high risk - i am pretty sure i am ok but i recently read a thread here, cant find it now, where someone seems to have caught something after doing it..

maybe if it can be in bold somewhere on tag it could help some people avoid future problems?

i know all sex acts carry risk but this one was such a common thing for me to do with my partner, i just kind of automatically did it without thinking, others might too

How about a sticky post "you have arranged a session with a sex worker - what you need to know". . something like that.. something stating the really risky things you should know about

It is worth pointing out that performing oral sex on a woman carries lower STI risks than vaginal sex, anal sex or performing oral sex on a man, though there are still risks of transmitting several STIs. Rimming, by contrast, is much more dangerous, as it carries STI risks (including a risk of Hepatitis A), and can cause several or bacterial infections.

Perhaps using a dental dam in the future would be a good idea if you are concerned. This can easily be made by cutting a slit along a condom and laying it flat.

sure, but in the p4p world, with sex, it would almost always be with a condom.. i am thinking maybe this might catch guys out who didn't consider it before.. so perhaps this is the riskiest activity you would typically, be able to do?

maybe the post could include advice on how to check if your partner is showing visible signs of an STI

No. We have an STD thread that people can discuss the relative danger levels. It's stickied to the top of Questions Answers and Warnings. We're all adults here and by it's very nature anonymous sex is dangerous.

If rational, people living in Tokyo should probably spend a few hours or more worrying about and taking measures to protect themselves from the risks associated with earthquakes for every minute they spend doing the same for risks associated with unprotected oral sex.

What would you say to french people terrified from recent terrorist attacks. :)

Terrorism is a truly minor danger in the EU compared to others threats to life that no one worries about much. There would have to be a terrorist attack as deadly (killing as many people) as the recent one in Paris somewhere in the EU roughly every other day to make it as much of a threat as traffic accidents!

See

http://ec.europa.eu/transport/road_safety/pdf/vademecum_2015.pdf

for the stats. It is the media that makes unfamiliar and dramatic threats seem so much worse than they actually are.

After 9/11 the US spent approximately US$1 trillion to combat terror threats (some real, some imagined). Consider how vastly many more lives would have been saved if a tenth that total had been spent on improving traffic safety in the US.

That's what I'd tell them, anyway.

And to get back on topic, this is indeed much like worrying about the danger of unprotected oral sex when seeing escorts; there are much bigger dangers to which you never give a second thought.

In case anyone feels that considering the whole EU, with its large population and including areas in which traffic accident rates are much higher than in France, is not a fair/reasonable, the comparison for Paris alone is that a terrorist attack as deadly as the Nov 13th one would have to occur once every 2 to 3 months to make them as much of a threat to Parisian lives as traffic accidents, depending on what definition of the population of Paris is used.

Okay, since this thread is totally off the rails, feel free to talk STDs in the STD thread. I'm closing this.
