I did a bit of research on the web beforehand.There are a couple of companies operating VR porn booths. They tend to be offered as an optional extra in the typical DVD masturbation booths you see in places like Kabukicho, Shimbashi etc.
One such company is Soft on Demand (SOD), which apparently is a porn producer as well, so kudos to them for capturing the whole value chain. However, one downside of SOD facility is that you can only view their own titles.
Takarajima, on the other hand, offers VR experience across a range of titles from different companies, including SOD. So i decided to choose them.
I visited the Shimbashi location. The shop is full of shelves with porn DVDs, with Japanese salarymen browsing around. The reception desk is in the back corner of the store. There’s not much privacy here. I went to the desk and asked for the VR porn course.
There are a range of options, but I chose the 1 hour course for Y1200, which comes with “joke goods” included. These “joke goods” turned out to be a masturbation aid - known in Japanese as an onaho (オナホ).
It’s basically a plastic cup filled with foam and gloopy lotion.
The guy offered me a of a hard or soft onaho. I chose soft, and they put it in a basket along with the VR headset and some packets of wet tissues. They asked me to choose what type of booth I wanted. I chose a reclining chair but there was also the option of a room with no chair where you can fully stretch out on a padded cushion.
It’s worth noting here that all booths appear to be smoking permitted. And the whole place stinks of smoke and sleaze.
I paid and was directed to a numbered booth on the second floor. The room itself is small but fine enough. It seemed clean, but given it’s basically a wank pod for Shimbashi salarymen, I made sure to clean my hands with the wet wipes and tried not to touch too many things.
There are clear and simple instructions in the bag for how to set up the VR headset. There’s also a paper eye mask to keep things hygienic.
This was my first time using VR and I have to say it was pretty cool. It really feels immersive. You move your head around to look at the titles of offer on the menu screen and then push a button on the side of the headset to make your selection.
There were lots of titles available from a range of producers. I am not really knowledgeable about Japanese porn, but it seemed like a good selection of current actresses. I chose a title by “Prestige” - but not sure of the actress.
When the VR starts up, I was in a room with the JAV actress right in front of me. When I looked down, I could see the legs and boxer shorts of a dude, like they were my own. The actress was spitting saliva onto her nipples and rubbing it around, at what seemed like only inches from my face. The whole experience was very strange, very real and very erotic.
