Hello!
My boyfriend and I are visiting from New York, and we have been reading this forum for awhile. We wanted to try a Happenig Bar and a Couple Kissa, and I wanted to report back since I always read things on this site. We went last night.
We are both in our 20s and Asian. We cannot speak any Japanese. We arrived at Bliss Out on a Tuesday night at 12:15pm after drinking at bit in Golden Gai. It was hard to find because the door that we went to was unmarked. It looked like an apartment, and we were hesitant to ring the bell.
Eventually, we rang the bell, and a Japanese man opened the door. He said Tomo was on holiday. It was very hard to communicate with him, but I used Google Translate on the phone.
At first, he wouldn't let us pay the couple rate. He wanted my boyfriend to pay 13,000 for the night fee and 5,000 to become a member. He said I would be free. However, I asked if we could have a cheaper price since we are leaving Tokyo tomorrow. He agreed and gave us the couple rate. We paid 7,000 for the night fee and I think 5,000 to register. He wouldn't tell us if there were people inside, but we were hopeful.
He did not check our passports, and we did not sign any form. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to come back tomorrow, so I asked if we could come back tomorrow. He said we can come back between 7-9am and he gave us a business card, asked us to write our name on it, and then he wrote the date on t.
We put our shoes away, checked our bags and coats, and he gave us a tour. He didn't show us the bottom floor though. He just opened the door and we walked downstairs ourselves.
Unfortunately, the entire playroom and upper bar area was empty. We were impressed with how clean it was and how cool the layout was. We had some fun in the playroom and then headed upstairs.
Overall, it was really cool, but I wish we had seen people. Would it be worth it Togo during the day today? I think we will drop by one more time at night to try again.
