Even After X amount of years in Japan I'll never get used to____

Generally, only Americans find "yo momma" jokes particularly funny. Outside of the US, they get yawns for the most part.

Except in Ireland... rather amusing to see an American try a "momma" line on an Irishman.

If you're the kind of person who finds vicious beatings amusing, that is.

i would not try it in Sicily either

I'm a Jimmy Carr fan. As in " if you want my come back, you'll have to scrap it off your mom's teeth"

I'll never understand yakisoba pan

JFC who eats this....... you’re definitely not alone. It looks like the bread has some unfortunate genetic mutation.
I eat it sometimes when I need a quick snack... ;) it’s not bad. Looks can be deceiving.

I’m trying not to judge but.. lol I’m judging a little bit :X3:

I guess I just need a little more balance. Carbs inside of carbs is just too much for me. It might as well be onigiri wrapped in a tortilla.
I wonder if you’ve seen people order a side of rice with noodles, lol. I’ve noticed people love their carbs here, but the giant serving of white rice with every meal is a bit much for me personally

It's not a new mutation. It's been there probably more than 50 years. Main addition to the bread is the taste of Worcestershire sauce and ginger, not noodle per se.

If you are on keto, just to go to another shelf in a konbini to grab "salad chiken" and some veges. Some people are happy with carby-carbs and some people are happy to be on keto. A Japanese konbini meets the demand from both.

I’m not on keto, never been. I eat some carbs because my body type tends to lose tissue (both fat & muscle) easily, and I don’t want to lose my hard earned muscle tissue. Or lose too much fat and look like scarecrow. But I usually go for fruit, chestnuts or medjool dates when I need a quick carb fix.. I’ve been judged for eating medjool dates by the way, (“Looks gross” or “ew, middle eastern food”) but they’re natural and a lot less processed compared to some konbini delicacies :p

My favorite konbini snack is sliced apples

Some people go full sieg heil when they see anything from Arabic speaking countries lol. I would rant and rave all day but this thread is about Japan.

I am sorry if I sounded like I am judgemental of the konbini.
I just judge the bakery section :p The rest is pretty healthy stuff, and I’m grateful to have quick access to healthy-ish food at late hours.

My dietary habits aren’t perfect either. Sometimes I want to eat a big bowl of salad with lots of olive oil and olives as a topping... at 2 am.

You are right. Keto dehydrates your tissues, and dates may be the best food to keep your issues hydrated.

But, believe me. Yakisoba-pan is not that bad.

When they first opened Natural Lawsons one was located in the same building I was working. Their freshly baked chocolate croissants were the sole reason for me to gain 5 kilos in a month.

After that I have never stepped inside Natural Lawson ever. Too scared. :p

Rice wrapped in a tortilla.. so, like, i think you just described a burrito. :ROFLMAO:

If the burritos you're eating are ONLY rice and tortilla, you're doing it wrong! Meat, beans, cheese, veggies, salsa, sour cream, guac and giant handful of cilantro. Balanced.

After thinking about it a little more though, I realize that prefer my carb loading in the liquid form. I regularly have whisky and beer sandwiches.

Yeah, the ramen and white rice set also blows my mind! Many times I've seen people of an average build eat a huge bowl of ramen, and a bowl of white rice, and then go back in for kaedama or okawari. My stomach hurts just watching that!
Probably a big part of why the probiotic supplement drink section is so big here.

I guess we're all built differently, grew up with different eating habits and adjust our diets to what works best.
