    Just wanted to add some info. Ended up purchasing some Skype credit and was able to make phone calls with only just wifi. I dont have a Skype number so I'm not sure if this would work if you had a Skype number from another country, hopefully someone can weigh in on this.

    Hi, I am currently visiting Tokyo, and later on kyoto, and Osaka. I'm a Chinese American and I speak pretty much no Japanese, are there any places where I have a chance in these areas? I'm currently living in kabukicho for the next two days.
