For instance, Japanese porn has a lot more focus on creampies-- lot more creampie movies, and 3d/animated becomes basically 100% creampie. Japanese lubricants are very weird and often different than what you can buy in the West (Astroglide) for example.

The Japanese lubes are often slimy, and then become sticky almost like glue, and stringy.

The best my friends and I could think of what Japanese lube manufacturers were trying to do, was make a lube for a small penis. Where it's slippery, but has some "grip" to it, so a smaller penis man can feel good. Anyway, what they make is terrible. I usually buy the Western lubes, except in one case.

I think Japanese porn is good from a "change of pace" or "weird" porn perspective. There is also more of a bit of story line, with older movies, that can be useful for language study. "The Japanese Wife Next Door" is a good example.

When it comes to outright sex, physicality, bodies, action, or interracial then Western porn beats Japanese porn in every way.

I don't know what porn you watch, but nothing sounds more fake than Japanese porn, on average. Japanese females making the weird sounds is a big turn off, and they are famous for it. I'm surprised nobody mentioned this so far. Childish and miserable faces seem to be all the rage here. Heck, many movies have crying girls, which feels rather sickening to me. This is probably the main difference between Western and Japanese porn. Most Western movies now depicts scenes of well endowed athletic men having intense, non-romantic, almost sporty intercourses with athletic and voluptuous women looking very eager to have sex. Japanese movies on the other hand very often show one or multiple men of variable age and body types (with a lot of "normal looking" men in their 40s) getting on a single girl with childlike features looking like she has sex against her will.

The way the scenes are constructed is also very different, and strengthens this impression. Western (or at least US) scenes often start with the two participants almost naked, and the girl giving a blowjob looking at the camera or at the actor before getting boned by the stud, whereas Japanese scenes start with some scenario setup, then moving on to the guy (or guys) spending a long time working on the girl's vagina with whatever tools they use, while she screams and expresses a mix of pleasure and shame.

The end result is Japanese porn looking like amateur wannabe, and Western porn aiming for very pro-looking scenes at the detriment of any sort of realism, as the target market doesn't ask for it since real amateur networks are now easily available for this.

The positive of Japanese porn being, in my opinion, the vast number of niches it caters to.
