All good things come to an end (Working for Japanese)

Definitely a lawyer.

If the transfer is or was intended to be one step in moving you toward a “voluntary” resignation ( another tactic is to assign you to a new role that is completely demeaning or unsuited ), those without decent counsel often fall right into the trap ... they either comply ...and if they don’t, insubordination makes it easier by one more step. Those who understand the “game” might claim work induced stress disorder ( in your case , you might add possible poisoning or PTSD ), take legal medical leave with all the necessary and sympathetic documentation ( shindan shomeisho) from a physician.

Thanks for this.

Premeditated murder attempt is nothing to walk away from. If they let you walk away from the company with full lifetime salary......maybe

Thanks, I already decided to take a lawyer.A Russian friend of mine works for White & Case and he is well known with Japanese corporate law.
I also have a lifetime contract, so that should also be considered.
What you really want is a labour law specialist, ideally.
Yeah I'm still think of going to the police. A few staff members wanted to beat him up, but I talked them out of it.
Construction industry?

OP, I’m very sorry to hear that you were almost horrendously murdered by poison. I concur with the legal advice above, your company definitely has liability about this case.

This summarizes my reaction to Mr. “If you steal my virgins I’ll murder you by poison”:

Look, I can still go along with the move, but every inch in my body is saying it is time to say goodbye (when I was typing this there was a pause and I was actually letting down a tear).
I'm not allowed to work for the competition so that makes finding new work a lot harder (in the same country). My parents are no longer alive, I should try to become a pornstar, joking!

I don't know the whole story of course, but I figure that you feel betrayed by the employer to whom you served to the best of your ability, expertise and effort for so many years. My apologies if I took it wrong.

You may not want to consider a mediation - even if it was a coincident there was a murder attempt in the office - and more importantly there was an organized work place bullying against you. You may want to take up a fight, but there are several mediation channels for a labor dispute such as the "individual labor dispute resolution system" (個別労働紛争解決制度) by a prefectural labor bureau and the "labor tribunal" by a local district court (労働審判). You may not need a lawyer for the labor bureau's mediation because it is for a settlement out of court from the start. It's free of charge, but it's non-binding. For the labor tribunal, you definitely need a lawyer. Just for your information.

Wow, insane story and circumstances. Kudos on keeping a relatively cool head about it. I don’t have any advice to add that hasn’t been said and I’m not familiar enough with Japanese work culture to add anything of value, but wish you luck in resolving things and moving forward.

Well this Monday, we were all called in the meeting room by the president. They decided to liquidate the company.
Their lawyers were already there. Managers and normal staff had separate meetings. It seems they have been working on this quite a while.
I received a whole package to read, but I just send it to my lawyer, he and I will meet tomorrow.

None of the managers are fired. The rest of the staff (except for a few assistants) are all fired.
They still what me to lead a new department at another location, but I'm going to see what my severance/transition pay/offer is.

When I came to this company it had ambition, but too many old guys running it and running it into the ground.

Thanks for all the help & tip guys!!! I really love the TAG community!!!

So does this remove the pressure to not criminally charge bleach boy?

You know, every inch in my body tells me the incarnate his ass. However, it was one of the girls on the operation floor (which I found out later) who drove him insane.
I wanted to speak to her on Monday, but she was already dismissed.

Edit: she was there on the Friday party, but I just did not want confrontation.

Guys and Girls, I have to say some more, about the way it is going, I have never experienced this before but it is interesting. So apologies for slow updates (by the way if you see updates from me regarding sex, I need that, I am human, just like all of you!).

Is this story happening in japan, or somewhere else?

I wonder whether this job was really a « good thing » to start with?

Speaking of poisoning food. Maybe that guy could go to jail for putting bleach in your coffee.

Pretty sure that not, as long as nobody got hurt.

But from the article, this is how it should have been handled: "He informed his company's management, which in turn notified police."

Don’t go to the police, it will be against you. In my opinion, there are much emotional implications from everyone that prevents rationalizing the situation. You are working in a toxic environment. Find a good lawyer and let him/her analyse the situation and recommend you the best alternatives. Nothing tells you that something similar will not happen again and the risk is that you could lose your control. This is a loosing game, don’t play that.

After your post,,, I didn’t take any home mad chocolate from coworker. She look very nice person...whoever after this post I realize is better be smart.

Btw, the title of this thread reminds me Ian & Sylvia.

I love how a disgruntled bf putting bleach in a coffee pot turns into attempted premeditated murder by poisoning. The cops and lawyers will laugh this one out of the room. Even in Japan they got other things to worry about. And my advice about suing your company because they might be trying to get you and others to quit by making you relocate is don’t bother. You will lose or you will waste a huge amount of time and energy and will be lucky to end up with a few months settlement. Cut your losses. Go out and find another fucking job. And this time don’t pick a loser company, where people are fucking each other and putting bleach in coffee pots. Oh, and if you take a sip of what you thought was coffee and find out that it is Kabi Killer.....well, I suggest you spit it out and rinse your mouth out with a can of Stong Zero.
