Has anyone tried the Ashley Maddison website for hooking up with women? It seems a little pricey, but if the women are real and willing to meet then it is probably worth it.

I joined but haven't really actively tried to pursue anyone. There are a lot of fake profiles. But, going by the numbers, I'm sure some people are enjoying it.

I joined the free option. Looked as if there were lots fake profiles. Deleted my account but still receiving periodic mails which fill up my spam folder. Perhaps others had more luck.

I joined this using an American credit card, then promptly used up all my credits sending
messages to people...Now I have a bunch of responses in my inbox but can't read or reply to them
because when I try to buy credits using the same credit card I joined with, the payment won't go through,
very frustrating! I would say the whole experience has been a frustrating waste of time....I guess I will
need a JP bank account to be able to access this site....

Ashley Madison is legit- in fact there was an article written about the company in the Japan Times a while back. They pride themselves about being very public about a private business.

That being said, I don't think any experienced mongers on this board or the other big one have ever written about using them.

I can attest to being sick of inaccurate and partial profiles, or getting recommendations for escorts in Florida as being 'in the general vicinity' of my office in Tokyo.

It may be good down the road, but I haven't been impressed yet. Maybe I will check again in a year or so.

This is certainly a possibility, depending on a) where you are logged in from or if you are using a VPN back to the States, etc b) what other sites you've visited on that computer. Advertising networks know all about you and companies will purchase access to those networks so they can target their information for the best effect. The best way to limit this is to use Private or Incognito mode when you browse the web, or at least sites you'd rather not get targeted on.

Any updates? I noticed Japan Cupid seems to be dying, so not likely to re-sign up. Match.com or others appear to be out recruiting them.

AM has a nice concept, but wondering if they F'd it up like AdultFriendFinder by going the scam route.

I do believe that the Japanese AM is a scam or at least it feels like it. It is totally different then the way it works in the US. I will not be trying it again. Lesson learned. Moving on to another site.

A friend of a good friend of mine has been using Ashley Madison with a lot of success. He is in a sexless marriage. But doesn`t want to divorce because for the most part, he likes his marriage, other than the lack of sex.
I can relate to that. He dates different women for a few months or so. I think he basicly things of them as sex friends. All of the ladies he has dated so far from Ashley Madison (are married) Japanese women. They don`t always have sex, but often meet for the first few times to have dinner, lunch or walk in park together, before moving on to sex.

Just wondering if anyone else has had success with Ashley Madison? What do you think of it? It has been in Japan for a while now, so I wonder if they have gotten rid of some of the glitches that go with any new start up.

I do P4P but as many of you know it is expensive. This guy saves a lot of money through Ashley Madison. Though it is not free, the costs are much lower than P4P he feels. Any comments on this appreciated.

I only met one woman after some time in the site who sent me a decent photo and was super ugly fat and old looking in real life . Sure if your desperate for sex...

Looks like they went the scam route. Full of fakes, P4P women and cam models misrepresenting themselves, and expensive crappy scammish point system. Rather they shut down and somebody else put a real website for the purpose.

I stopped using Ashley Madison after two months of trying. Its a total rip-off here in Japan.

I have tried it. Still have my account with 20 credits left. Made a few contacts (even one in Peru, FFS), but no meetings. Now just look every once in a while.

I also just learned if you ask them to delete your account they will charge you ~20$ to do it. Not a fan of extortion.

I have found a couple of gals on AM however it seems that most women there actually want a J guy or someone who speaks Japanese.. They also seem to prefer residents over visitors. Its not really a gaijin hunting site the way Japan Cupid seemed to be. I have found most to be real but if you are a guy, pretty much anyone sending to you will be a scam. lol.. The real women basically wait for you to find THEN and not the other way around. The key to saving money is to get then to use email instead of AM to communicate with you as quickly as possible.

Its not cheap, and it costs quite a bit by the time you actually hook up with someone but its generally worth it if you do. Sex with a woman who really wants SEX is WAY better than paying for someone who you know doesn't really give a rat's ass beyond how much you are paying them.
