So I’m curious how this works, as we seem to have a few experts on this board.

I’m familiar with the foreign models/talent who appear in works sponsored by their home company, come to Japan with all of it set up in advance, but what about the local girls?

It seems by law you basically need permanent residency or a spouse visa to appear in JAV if you’re a foreigner. However, I’ve seen a good handful (recently too, so I don’t think laws have changed) of foreign actresses that openly claim to be study abroad students, speak Japanese well, etc making multiple titles. Not sure how this is done legally...but to be honest I don’t care lol and I’d like to know how one can find some similiar jobs within the industry as a gaijin girl. My guess is certain companies don’t care, but if anyone has the hookups for how to get a foot in post your wisdom!

Emphases in the word claim. Which DVD the Japanese guys are going to purchase; the one with an innocent young foreign student in it or the one with a foreign girl married to a another Japanese dude? Exactly. :p

I knew when I wrote that it would sound like a setup for a scenario, but some research shows that it’s true for most of them.

Something else I notice is they don’t really do events/promotions which also tells me it’s being kept quiet, and they don’t openly promote to draw attention to themselves. Not that you’d really need to anyway, those in the porn know would find you on DMM without encouragement I’m sure haha

I don't have any numbers but I get the impression that the fees for appearing in AVs aren't mega these days. But if you want to try it, I hope it works out well for you.

Speaking of, last night I heard from a fairly reliable source that there's a 5 year time limit on how long all new JAV titles will be sold in shops/kept on shelves. I feel that this new law is just a scam to get more local girls to do AV knowing that in 5 years it'll no longer be available in shops. (but all over the internet)

It's a way of paying less......more for them and less for the girls. Another con
