I know beauty pageants are not as big in Japan compared to other countries that regard it more than a sport, spends tons of bucks and get a training right from the moment the child is born, girls walk in high heels right after they learn how to walk.

But I am curious. I have an extensive background in beauty pageants and trainings and I miss it. Anyone got info on Miss Universe Japan? Infos are hard to comeby on web esp for non japanese speaker. I am not planning to join or anything, I guess I never reached 5'8" height mark, never grew quite tall enough, Plus, my looks might not be suitable here haha. I just wanna know and maybe watch some live coronation. I used to attend a lot of pageant coronations before. I know Miss International is usually held in Tokyo, last one was in some hotel in shinagawa.

But then again, foreign community might not be the best source of info for this. Worth a shot though ^_^

Miss Universe Japan is a very popular brand/company in Japan. Lots of the contestants are young college women. I attended the finals one year. I don't know of other major pageants in Japan but sometimes you hear about them from celebrities who used to hold various titles.

I think you can do some modeling here. Actually that's all I've been doing recently, other than hitting the gym. The rate is 100,000-200,000 on average. Actually i think it is higher than that, I think almost double, but agency cuts like crazy. And agency is the one sending your TF on your account. I know not as much as what escort makes. You guys probably make that in couple hours. That's one whole day of shooting (8am- 5pm, if there's overtime, there's usually negotiations) . However time is spent, 80% waiting for your turn, esp if TVC (which is more common offering here than print modeling) 10% hair and make up being done, 5% actually shooting, 5% eating drinking their food treats. When you have been casted for a big company you are usually pampered. You have your own room in the studio building for a day. All the drinks you can order and all the meals for the day. Waiting time is a shithole as you have had your hair done so even if you got your own room you cannot lie down. Best bet is make friends with the other models to talk and pass the time. What I do is pig out on the food and make sure ro drink all the complimentary drinks on the tiny fridge in the room provided for. Eating makes boredom bearable.

There is audition/ casting first before you get the job so it isn't as easy as it seemed. There is a chance of going to audition and not being chosen.

Also, modeling has been my entrance to doing beauty pageants before.

In japan, I know there is a high demand for foreign models. Since I am hybrid, I think agencies has places me play on both foreign and native model roles.

Modeling is also tough though, cannot be relied on as your first source of income. Coz today you may have booked a job, tomorrow who knows. And model job turnover isn't as fast pace as escort turnover I bet.

More for me to know, though I've been doing it since my university days, I'm still quite beginer in Japan. I haven't been into many jobs too, so what I described here may not necessarily apply to all.

I've tried to get into modelling but i got kinda tired of it. The only agency that accepted me and regulary sends auditions is pretty bad and its usually for extras and small roles.
It seems difficult to get into the good agencies here.
