They may not be as great as Conrad but Sheraton Miyako https://www.miyakohotels.ne.jp/tokyo/ and Prince Park Tower hotel (lower than 21st floor? I am sorry I cannot remember the exact number) https://www.princehotels.com/parktower/ do not require a keycard for the elevator. JFYI.
Thanks!

I stayed in Sheraton and can confirm it does NOT require a key (as of end of last year). It was OK-ish (a little old with small windows and rooms).

I thought Prince Park Tower does require key card? Are you sure? I always stayed in the top floors (after 21) and you need to swipe the key card twice: one time to enter the elevator room and second time to use the elevator. A colleague of mine told me he had to swipe the key card even for the first floors... If it does not require the key card, that would be a good choice for a 5-star hotel in a central location.

I also heard that Hyatt Regency does not require key card but I have not verified it yet.

Years ago, I had a job shooting a promo video at the Conrad. They took me to the VIP suite, which is where Paris Hilton stays when she is in town. I think at the time it was over 1 million yen per night.

She hasn't been in town since she got denied entry due to her drug convictions..

This was over 15 years ago. I remember Russell Brand also got turned away.
He hasn't been back since either. Drug convictions are a lifetime ban from Japan unless you get an exemption from the MOJ... as far as I know, Paul McCartney is one of the only celebs to manage it.

It's a great hotel
Just out of the way
Shiodome is like a hole
Not close to anything, so taxi it is back to the hotel
If you are paying that price category go somewhere like The Peninsula where you can just meet your girl next to the cafe in the lobby and entry rooms are massive

The soccer player whose name was, I think, Maradonna was banned and then eventually let in.

Just confirmed that Park Hyatt does not require key card. It is quite expensive though (more expensive than Conrad) and seems to be just as old as some of the antiques mentioned earlier in the thread. It will be closed for renovation in May.

Review Narrative:
This has been probably one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. The hospitality I've had in Japan absolutely blew the hospitality I've had in the 5-star hotels in America out of the water. I was a little confused about how to get inside the hotel, but that was just due to my poor planning. The hotel is situated right next to the Shiodome Station and is within walking distance from the much busier Shimbashi Station. It is also near Ginza, which is the upscale fashion district. The hotel is in the Shiodome building, but there is a separate entrance located at the back of the building. I took an elevator to the 28th floor where the reception is.

When I was checking in, they escorted me to the executive lounge to complete my check-in instead of completing my check-in at the hotel lobby, which is pretty nice in size. Upon check-in, I was upgraded from a twin room ($605/night) to a twin suite ($850/night), which was mindblowing. I was also given a complimentary buffet-style breakfast and access to the executive lounge, as well as an ¥18,000 credit for any services at the hotel, whether it be restaurants or the spa. I used the credit to indulge myself in a nice dinner at Kazahana, a Japanese-style restaurant within the hotel. Hilton was running a promotion where Hilton Honors members save more on restaurants, so as a Diamond member, my dinner was discounted by 25%, which meant I practically ate for free.

When I entered my room, the staff delivered my luggage from the executive lounge to my room. Soon after that, they brought a "welcome amenity" which was a couple of grapes and a pastry that tasted slightly like red bean paste. Not bad, I also was not expecting that either. As for the suite, it was huge; there was a main bathroom and a small restroom. The shades were controlled by a button on the wall. My room was overlooking the Hamarikyu Gardens, which was a brilliant sight to see when I woke up. The room had 2 TVs as well as a Bluetooth speaker.

Wish I found this forum sooner, I would have blown a ton more money on some more cost-effective outcall providers, instead of getting gouged by the "foreigner-friendly" delivery health services; especially with how nice the room was. I have had delivery health services delivered to my room; even picked one up from the valet area and walked her to my room. The hotel does not question it at all. Although it may seem like the elevators for the guest rooms need a keycard, they did not require it at the time of my stay.

Next time I need to do better research though, instead of getting fucked by upsells left and right, because this is definitely a hotel worth having an outcall session with, even if it's a bit far from Shinjuku and Shibuya. I will definitely be going back to this hotel when I'm in Tokyo.

Final Rating:
★★★★★ (5 Stars)
Will be staying there in May. Hoping it isn’t awkward to meet two girls at elevators and bring them up? Heard hotel has great customer service so they know you by name etc. Don’t want to be watched - first time going to be using a service and feeling a little nervous about coming down elevator bank, meeting two girls, and swiping key card to bring them up. Appreciate some color from the experts here.

I remember reading that Robert Downey was interrogated but eventually let in for Iron Man movie premiere. I think he is banned since then though.

I was talking about the Hyatt Regency, not the Park Hyatt.
Regency should be cheaper.

Is the Park Hyatt not under construction yet? I heard they are gonna renew it.

I kinda prefer regency because you can go straight up to the rooms with one elevators. The park Hyatt doesn’t need a card, but it’s like a maze in there.

Next month.

Park Hyatt Tokyo announces plans for a property-wide renewal of its guestrooms and facilities starting in spring 2024. The hotel will suspend operations from May 7, 2024 and is slated to reopen in autumn 2025. The planned enhancements coincide with the hotel's 30th anniversary, ushering in a new chapter for the hotel, aimed at elevating the guest experience and revitalizing its iconic ambiance. Locals and worldly travelers alike have cherished the hotel as a sophisticated home-away-from-home since its opening in 1994, and the forthcoming updates will bring a fresh, modern feel to the already-renowned property.

I think you can be very obvious and they wouldn't give a damn. I'm sure they're used to stuff like this happening on the daily with all the foreign businessmen and whatnot.

Just a personal anecdote: I recently stayed at Conrad Seoul for 7 nights, Grand Hyatt Seoul for 3 nights, and Signiel Seoul for 4 nights and I brought a different girl up each night, saw the same staff almost every day. Each hotel required a keycard to access the elevator and there were staff on the premises ready to greet me and my "companion" no matter what hour of the day it was. Every night, the housekeeper would have to clean up at least one used condom in the trash even though my room was listed as one person. At Conrad Tokyo, I brought a girl up who looked clearly out of my league hand-in-hand, even greeted the staff and went on my way to hand the girl off to the valet area after 2 hours.

My point is, I don't think the staff gives a shit, they're just there to help you have a great time at the hotel and in the city as is the norm for most 5 star hotels in Asia (or at least, the hotels I've stayed in). If it helps, there are barely any staff members near the elevator, so no, I don't think it will be awkward at all UNLESS you make it awkward. But even then, they don't care enough to keep track of you or watch you unless you're doing something clearly illegal in front of them-- they have a million of other guests to tend to as well.

I have stayed at a few different 5 star hotels in Hong Kong, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh city for an escort tour.
Imagine, single Japanese woman comes downstairs every three, four hours, picks up a different gentleman to her guest room, sometimes orders room serviced breakfast for two people, asks extra fresh towels every day although she is supposed to stay by herself. Lol
Yet hotel staff never bother me at all.

In my long escort history, I have been stopped at the front desk twice only. One is sun light hotel in shinjuku, kabukicho and the other one is also a small business hotel in Akihabara; I can't remember the exact name off the top my head light now. My point is, if you stay at a higher end, large hotel, your chance to get bothered is less.

Makes sense. Thank you!

Love it. Thank you Manami - that’s helpful.

600 is kind of high. I stayed at the other hilton for 400 and it was already very nice. As what other people said, key card shouldn’t deter you. It’s standard at good hotels. I have openly gone down to meet and embraced in the lobby. Act natural because it is.
