Do you think the P4P scene will open up more to foreigners?

Where do you see the general trend heading say in the next 5-10 years? Also curious on some insight on how it was a few years ago. Do you think we can expect more shops to open their doors to us in the future?

I think in general there is a trend that more shops try to open up..... maybe not because the love foreigners so much, but P4P has suffered during Corona and I guess earnings are still down in comparison to pre-pandemic times. Especially Cityheavens initiative to create an English subsite really surprised me.

In the end it will depend on how people behave, but it will probably go in waves like it always has:
Shop opens up ➡️ assholes missbehave ➡️ shop gets restrictive again ....rinse repeat

That was the vibe I got as well, at the end of the day they're businesses after all and a lot of foreigners are willing to pay for their service. Also not sure how Covid has affected the local P4P scene, but its not like Japan's economy is doing so hot rn so maybe the locals also are spending less on P4P because of that? Could just be me bullshitting though.

Like Danbo said, the shops might open up to earn some of that money from foreigners. There is still the question of how much foreigners are spending on P4P to make a dent on the shops' revenues, since most foreigner tourists don't engage in P4P. The Chinese tourists are a different group comparing to others so maybe the shops will tailor more to Chinese given the easy and lots money? But with Chinese are behaving in general the shops might try and give up or specialized shops focusing mainly on Chinese will pop? It would be interesting to see if the shops will have English or Chinese speaking staff.

It's always a double edge sword where more foreigner customers mean more troubles? Hopefully not. I have no faith in fellow foreigners behaving and understanding the rules.

It will open up more.
But it will get more expensive and the girls that will show up will gradually offer shittier service.

Sorry to be a downer.

Not so sure if it will have such a huge effect. Percentage of foreigners using P4P is still pretty low I would guess...

I think the Olympics had the potential to really change things, probably in a bad way.....but luckily they didn't take place in the way they were planned 😉

From talking to the delihealth girls, it seems like most foreign punters are from other parts of Asia. Once the chinese tourist hordes decend on Japan again the economic incentive will be there to open up more.

I would say there are way more options compared to 10 years ago. But I would also say the girls were a bit better looking back then too.

The news about that casino are actually hilarious.

The whole complex will have hotels, restaurants and conference center. And "Casino floor space is only 3% of the total resort area". Still at the same time "Sales are predicted to reach about ¥520 billion a year, with ¥420 billion coming from gambling revenue."

So 80% of the sales will come from 3% of the area? Doesn't sound like good business plan to me. Also they are going to charge 6.000 yens entrance fee from the locals, including foreigner residents. So if you want to gamble for a week it's cheaper to fly to Korea.

Eh, a few magnets in the roulette wheels, a slight rebalancing of the dice....

Yeah, but if it was me I would make the casino area to cover 97% of the whole complex. More room for magnets.

Only once did I introduce a fellow foreigner to one of my regular shops. I explained him all the rules and of course he managed to break every single one of them. Lesson learned, never again :X3:
Luckily the shop didn’t ban me.

Can you expand on this horror story?

Ah, but if you leave enough skin to grow back, you can skin the same cat over and over again.
