So besides the obvious benefit of being able to keep track of a customer by the phone number, and having some method to trace it back to a person in the event there is an issue, has anyone had any issue with Service providing establishments having their number?

Probably half of Tokyo and a third of Osaka knows my phone number from this sort of activity, but a buddy of mine had recently stated he "heard of people being tracked down and blackmailed."

This sounds like total nonsense, but if I want an answer I have to ask the question.....

Anyone else "hear" about issues with providers having your number?

Sounds like bullshit.

I've been in this business for a long enough period to know that anything like that is going to be related to some other issue. (If there's any truth to it whatsoever)
People love to spin stories or twist them in a way to be more dramatic.

The only real issue we've seen with phone numbers is the sales messages sent via SMS from a few shops. While it's not a security issue, it is an issue if someone sees the message pop-up on the phone (such as a wife, girlfriend or a co-worker)

Nope and I have not always been very careful ... having said that if they want to blackmail me , bring it on and make my day babies!

The closest I've ever heard of shop going to "blackmail" has been making someone pay a fine for crossing lines, such as going for FS when it isn't on the menu.

Any shop that engaged in blackmail would get their name plastered all over the net and be out of business in a New York minute.

Now, I have heard of guys being blackmailed by girlfriends when they find out he's married....

Well, I wouldn't consider that as blackmail, just business or relationship opportunities. After all, why are you trying to marry another girl or pretending you are going to marry her when you are already married :p

That is very racist and small minded. If that ever happens to me I just clearly and kindly explain to them I am a muslim and allowed to have more than one wife.

While slowly backing away and disappearing into the night. Because the worst punishment for bigamy is not jail time, it's two mother-in-laws.

@Sudsy
I have heard that customer forces the girl FS (or shop claims so) and later they get forced to pay them ridiculous amount of fine like 1 million yen.
When the clients want to take a legal step, they go talk to attorney that is specialized for Fuzoku trouble but they also try to scam the client so it would be going to be double blackmail.

I have seen that some shops mention on their website they would charge the client 1 million yen of fine if they find anything illegal action towards their girls. But I don’t know how active their rule can be in real world. Maybe legit shop can take them to a local police station but “you gotta pay us 1 million yen. Or...” can be extortion.

I have seen the same one million written in some shop walls. I am pretty sure no shop wants to take a client to the police as that would probably end up causing them way too much trouble. But in any case I would not try to get FS in a shop that advertises things like that; instead use shops where FS is the norm or use the independents.

I got once black mail by phone 5 years ago. It was block number.
The guy clame to be yakuza from Yamaguchi i didnt understand well except that i need to pay him or he will relise information and i will have big issue.
Well I tell him I have nothing to do with him, I will not pay and dont care what he have to say. I than shut the phone.
They call again serval day latter and thinks I was Chinese I say yes and they shut the phone.
I suspect the DH shop that close down is sailing the data to Mafia clearly they try to get money without any information about you.
They can tell the world I use DH service ... no one care.

In English or Japanese?

It's also possible that it's a random call that's targeting random numbers and threatening people to pay, "or else", as they say.

Bingo. That does happen - though these days it's more often via email or SMS.
