Good places for Western males to hook up wth Japanese women

Hey I have got some good information from a previous thread but it's a little outdated and wondered if anybody can provide an update...

I'll be traveling to Tokyo in June.. Me and my friend will be looking to go to the cheaper bars earlier in the evening, probably in Rappongi, before heading to the serious clubs in Shibuya later on. What are currently the best bars in Rappongi for some strapping 29 year old English lads to pick up local girls? hahaha And how much is a night out likely to cost, if we're going to frequent these bars before heading the the techno parties afterwards? I drink spirits with mixers...

I can’t help, never been to Rappongi.
I would recommend the Hubs in Shinjaku though.

Drinks in Roppongi are probably going from 900 yens upwards if you don't hit them at happy hour. Though likewise @Frenchy said I would rather go to Shinjuku for drinks.

Well according to my friend Google , there is a HUB in ROppongi too.

I have been there once this decade and it was because of two F cups. Which were great. And still the visit was shit. That's how bad Roppongi is.

Roppongi is a place for you if you want to meet drunken US Navy guys or expensive filipina hookers. The place is cheap but everything there is expensive.

I would almost think that drinks in Shibuya are cheaper than Shinjuku and Roppongi(also be careful with touts outside... But could be wrong

I thought the same but its a double-unknown equation : OP wants a cheap bar , but also with ladies willing to be picked-up.

you should only need to go to Roppongi if you are over 45, have limited social skill, fat and have no hair, like me.

the bars aren't very good, overpriced and the only women are
1) stuck up gaijin 'models' that get worshipped by Japanese guys because they have blonde hair and tits but wouldn't get a second look back in their own country
2) women who were not born women
3) 30+ year old Japanese ladies that desperately want a husband and have been passed over by various locals.

being a 'strapping' young English lad, you'll be able to meet some decent 'birds' in Shinjuku or Shibuya at the Hub or something. Then take them to a club in Shibuya. Just remember to brush your teeth, shave and wear clean clothes before you go out and you'll already be in the top 10% of available guys in the Hub.

Roppongi was the place to go 30-40 years ago in it's heyday. Now it's just a boring tourist trap. There are far better locations to go out drinking in Tokyo.

@Durg50 and @impish pretty much hit the nail on the head. Though Impish is exageratting - Roppongi was still pretty fun 20 years ago. It's been pretty roundly crap since the early 2000s though.

If you mean you can handle your own in terms of fighting, I don't know why you would want to come to Japan - nobody fights on a night out over here. It's not Bristol or Plymouth or something.

You may like it. Lots of tourists actually do like Roppongi (local foreigners often not so) and there are a few gaijin hunter women there though maybe not as many as you'd hope. Shinjuku is also nice and i wouldn't say the girls are unfriendly, but unless you go to Hub or something they are probably not interested in hooking up with tourists. There are some quite cheap bars in Shinjuku though, i think "Moonwalk" has very cheap drinks. For drinking alone, Roppongi is not gonna be the cheapest place.
But your plan is to meet girls at a bar and then take them to the dance club later? Or to abandon the dance club plan if you get lucky?

Roppongi overall is surely nothing like it was a couple of decades or more back, and I very much understand why people are dis'ing it, but there are still good and "interesting" experiences and places to be found there imo. They are, however, "low profile"...in the extreme in some cases, not likely to be located easily or quickly by newcomers.
