Welcome. Lots of good information and good people here. I suppose it's a good place for people who don't have anybody IRL who they can talk about this stuff with - no idea if that is your situation but it seems common.

Thank you, @ShowaJidai ! Well, yes, that is my situation! I finally dipped my toes in the water (that being, escorts and the like) and have been bumbling my way through each experience. I've had quite a few terrible experiences but hey, just learn and move on.
