Have you been to/eaten at... ?

I've never been to any of them, either.

3. Yanagiya

It seems that Yanagiya doesn't accept a booking of any first-time customer. A first timer needs to book through a repeating customer and accompanied by them. A booking needs minimum 4 persons. A loophole of this rule seems to be having a dinner at Yanagiya's branch in Nagoya (Yanagiya nishiki: a booking needs minimum 2 persons - a first time customer can make a reservation) to obtain the status of a repeating customer.

thanks for the loophole.

Been to 3, but it was a while back - happy client took me (and paid) that was my loophole...
I enjoyed but not sure it's in my top 10 in Japan, more like top 25 or so. I wasn't so close to the client and your company is an important part of the experience in a place like this. He ws showing off his connections a bit too much. It was before the hype of tabelog took over though ...even the Guardian has reviewed it...
