Are your habits the same? More? Don't care?
I'm curoius.
Unless you are planning a p4p session that would qualify as a large gathering of people then I don't think it should matter.
And if you are please invite me too!
I went to a Soap on Friday and it was VERY empty. The staff welcomed me with open arms and wet wipes before getting down to business. I could get their top rated girl. Turned out pretty good.
THE LH that I visited only had 3 rooms available at the time. It doesn’t look like certain gents are slowing down.
But I did read that an onsen had to file for bankruptcy recently. So it might be too early to tell if desire will be overcome by fear of COVID-19, and whether or not this outbreak will finally slow the red light business. Super G didn’t, syphilis didn’t, and legionnaires didn’t. Hell, the fact that all sorts of bacteria, yeast, fungus, and viruses are in LHs hasn’t slowed mongers down leads me to surmise that this won’t either.
I actually use them for conference calls when I'm on the road. They're relatively inexpensive, they're quiet, and the look on the faces in accounting when I hand in the receipt is a laugh.Love hotels aren’t only used for business but by various of people who need discretion. Considering how thin most walls of Japanese houses/apartments are.... a lot of students use them as well.

I go to one of those super onsen in Tokyo almost on a daily basis and I can positively confirm that not a single person is staying home because of Corona, rather the opposite.
Just curious, what do you consider a "super onsen" and which ones do you recommend? I absolutely fucking love those huge onsen establishments, like Spa World in Osaka (incidentally, the ONLY thing I love about Osaka) but in Tokyo the only ones I've been to are Odaiba Onsen Monogatari and then Spa Laqua, and Laqua is definitely the nicer option. On my final day in Japan, as my flights are usually in the evening and I have to check out of my hotel by 11am, I usually spend three or four hours at LaQua, lounging around, drinking beers and having a nice tendon and zaru soba, drinking more beer and more beer and more beer and when I'm nice and intoxicated I go leer at the young girl (if any) in the akasuri room while rubbing my crotch. LaQua is perfect for classy guys like me.

In your case LaQua is probably the best option
There is also Niwa no Yu next to Toshimaen , but its a bit far from the center
I like places with a more traditional atmosphere, so neither Odaiba nor LaAqua is particularly appealing to me.
Roger that, we just have different tastes. The traditional places are great, but I'll admit I actually like the "theme park" atmosphere of some of the large spas. I can get a soak, akasuri, head to the dining area for a few "mega beers" and a nice ramen and maybe karaage, soak again, drink even more and then try hitting on the middle-aged women at the food court. I prefer LaQua to Odaiba is it's definitely less family-friendly so that means no children running around screaming bloody murder as is typical with Japanese. Ruins my buzz.
I don't dare to say, just entered the onsen near my home and they are closing down because of Corona for one week. Luckily only starting next week, but wtf ...
I wonder if they ran out of water and soap?
