Hi!

My gf and I are thinking of going to sleeping beauty or 9259 this weekend, however on the website it states that a health insurance card is required.

She has a 在留 card but was not given a health insurance card, does any of you know if she is able enter?

We can understand and speak enough Japanese to get by, so language shouldn't be an issue to enter.

Thanks for your help guys!

9259:
  • ご入会時、ご確認の為に、ご署名、及び健康保険証+顔付きの身分証明書をご呈示頂きます。
  • 上記の2点をお持ちで無い場合は、ご入店をお断りしております。

Says you need ID card (with face picture) + Health Insurance Card.

Sleeping Beauty:
健康保険証(必須)と顔写真付きの身分証明書2点をご提示頂きます。
Health Insurance Card is required along with ID card with face picture.

If she has a residence card, why not an insurance card as well?

Thanks for your reply!

She's here on a short term basis (1 year), so her company didn't give her one unfortunately.

Seems like bliss out will be the only option (apart from the less famous ones) for us if they are strict on that requirement..

It is and they will even check the validity date (happened to a SB and we were refused entry because hers was supposedly expired - they just made a mistake by the way, found out later it was actually still valid)

Damn, they are that strict!

Guess we will see you all at Bliss Out then =)

Well, even if your company doesn't pay for it you are required to do so by yourself.

Maybe the government was going through ways to force people to really pay for it and this was the best they came up with?

"Nobody cares if they're insured or not but what if they can't get into happening bars?"

Depends - if she's an expat on temporary posting, she may be allowed to use a home office supplied health plan. One of the only exceptions to that law.

By checking your health insurance card, does that mean the government will cover 70% of the cost?
