So I've read about Kogane cho being a famous red light district in yokohama with reasonable prices. Then some older Japanese men told me about this area and what it entails. This motivated me to check it while I was in the area. But it's dead. I found the exact area with all the buildings but either they are still on new years vacation or something happened.

The buildings that did not have a curtain up did not look like it was meant for this type of work even though some still had lights on. The other side of the building is all bars and restaurants so I assume that's what this side will eventually be.

The area had one run pink salon that from afar looks very nice and flashy but up close looks kind of run down. It's 40 minutes for 8000 if anyone wants to try it out. Around the corner is a fashion health. I was going to ask but I saw a girl that was cute ish but a little plump.

I ended up in the red light area in between hidecho and koganecho. There were a lot if places asking me to come in but not the ones I wanted. I ended up at Yokohama Stylish which I will check later. Overall it's a good area if you're willing to spend a little extra for cute ish japanese girls.

But I guess my main question is what happened? I guess police cleaned it up but doesn't make sense since there is nothing else in the area worth seeing.

That area is dead! You might try another area. It might still have SWs by the river. I haven't heard the Brits talk about it tho. Between Sakuragicho and Kannai, there is a river and sometimes people are out there waiting to be picked by drivers passing by.

I also went around that area. I believe if you want to have some fun in Yokohama, you must go around Kannai and Fukutomicho area.

I went twice to Yokohama Stylish, they are very "Gaijin Friendly", although I don't know if they talk English, but I guess it's OK. I am looking forward to hear your review for Yokohama Stylish.

If you are interested I could tell you some places in Yokohama where you can have some fun.

Yokohama isn't really the the best p4p location. Stomp on other grounds.

I'd say that you should avoid the area of Kogane cho itself. It has totally been changed. Try the places around Okubo. There are still some ladies out. There is another area by Kamata.

But 2020 its in 3 years guys!!

There'll always be somewhere to go........

In this age of internet, and with the restrictions that are already being put on soaplands and incall healths, i wouldn't de surprised if almost this whole industry will go online.
Which is sad, the shops definitely give a colorful touch and can be fun and convient in their own ways.

I hope you are right, and I'd bet on it in most countries, but Japanese culture will often make truly HUGE sacrifices for the sake of appearances in many different contexts.

True and while I have seen areas slowly cleaned up, I have yet to see total closure of these businesses in question in Tokyo. Yokohama was a major trafficking strip that got the attention of the Republican Party. I suppose that the park area in Okubo or Shin Okubo was included in the crackdown as well.

The key word at that time was "trafficking" so out of pressure Ishihara ( Tokyo Gov at the time) mandated particular shops closed. Bijo Columbians were sold for 10,000 yen a pop in rundown little cubby holes along the tracks in residential areas as I recall from a stroll through the area. Then you had the escorts complaining to journalists and other organizations.

The only complaining I see in the news at present is with the AV industry forcing ladies into making porn against their will. Before that, a watchdog in the States accused Japan of promoting Enjo Kosai or trying to cover up the percentage of teens involved. The response in Japan was to get girls off the streets in Akihabara.

In my experience with Japan, unless strong opposition to Kabukicho comes from a powerful entity, nothing much will happen but perhaps some new buildings spring up. And perhaps they will enforce the anti-proposition law that either is only for female escorts or both tours/scouts which would basically end the lure effect in Kabukicho.

I suppose Gotanda and other areas would be driven out of business if they did that and stopped getting the drunks. How many Tokyo or Japan seasoned TAGers or others even use the street pimps to find comfort? Getting ripped off is mostly what happens at best and killed at worst.

In my opinion based on looking at Rio, Backpage is going to be where the action is at. The working girls are going to come over here to make a quick buck. Let's think well, Japan is accessible by Europeans, Asians, Americans, and other nationalities. So gentlemen save up your mongering petro dollars for three years and forget about those Kabukicho shops. Think about all those 10s that are going to be online and ready to please versus the hit or miss action in the red light areas of Tokyo.

Eh, come again please? Places like Gotanda are as you said mostly geared towards the drunken locals. This also means they are trying to get repeat customers unlike places like Roppongi who mainly target drunken foreigners :p.

That is to say that while you will not get a five star escort experience in place like Gotanda you are still pretty much guaranteed to get a cheap and safe experience.

And so why would Japan close anything down? Therefore my statement that nothing will change in Japan is correct. There will be no crackdowns.

Makes me worried the same might happen to places like Yoshiwara and Kabukicho in 2020 :/

Ishihara already had the ball rolling with Kabukicho in preparation for the Olympic bids, I'm sure his successors will try to rein Kabukicho in HARD before the Olympics - and as the majority of shops in Kabukicho are improperly licensed, it's relatively easy to do so.

Yoshiwara is a much harder nut to crack, as all the shops are officially licensed.

Ko ga ne Cho..wow lol that's a faded tattered chapter in my mongering history;) Set me straight if I'm way off, but the providers were mainly not Japanese. Korean, S.American Spanish, and occasional Russian, at least in my experience. I'd sign a petition for Kogane to have World Heritage status except in the dictionary, when you looked up human trafficking it says see KoganeCho.
Not to sound contrarian, imo Yoshiwara will continue to blossom and prosper even more when the games come. Don't underestimate how much it's deeply embedded, culturally; taking a wrecking ball to Kabukicho in a land grab for high rises and/or a faux Chinatown, like in Yokohama seems plausible imo, but I wouldn't worry. "It's Chinatown"

Whenever i see this thread i always feel like its about a girl called "Kogane Cho" (maybe half japanese, half Chinese or something) who probably died.
Taking a note from one of your fantasies where you are followed on the street.. when I read you weighing in about such a seedy and sad area, I fantasize about seeing you walking down one of those two tiny deserted streets. You stop and lean up against a flimsy sliding door and open it as I draw close. We end up furtively fucking in a standing position just out of site from the street. You are hot, my dear.
Somehow having sex with you there has a redeeming quality.
