It's pretty normal in Japan, lots of people cheat here.
Just be careful about the legal situation (if her husband finds out she has an affair with you he can sue you) and make sure you bring something to the table! (If you're not paying, at least be attractive or fun to be around to her, give something to the relationship and be honest to her about being married.)

Just depends on the budget you are looking for.
Is it frowned upon? Yes, but I feel everyone is somewhat expecting it, and fine with it as long as it doesn't come to light.

I've worked at various Japanese companies and cheating on your wife is quite common among middle aged men. The majority of my co-workers have been to brothels/hired women to have foreplay and/or sex with.
It's a lot like pachinko, keiba, and other forms of gambling. Officially, in society, it's frowned upon so if it gets out in the open, people will judge you negatively. However, a lot of people do it in private and are OK with it.

For Japanese people, I understand, it's unacceptable to get busted.
It means you didn't pay enough efforts to hide it, you were not discreet and because of it, the couple is losing face.
The good thing is that, usually, Japanese wive are not making any effort to catch you.

I wouldn't say all Japanese women are willing to look the other way like that.
The younger girls really do ask questions and are more willing to snoop around to
find dirty information on you.
But, yes, as you mentioned, many women are too oblivious to figure it out or
already know that Japanese men cheat on the side so they don't care about it.
What is nice about Japan is that a LOT of young girls and mature women are willing
to trade sex for money. Unbelievable the amount of hot models (former and active) that
