Are maid cafes really that bad? I went to Maid Dreaming in Shibuya and it was unironically fun and the only guys there were just in my group (2 including me). The rest of the like 4 customers there were women

Maidreaming is probably the worst representative for maid cafes, I can't stand their moe cringe but there's more than enough uh... maladjusted... japanese men for them to be the biggest chain around. But other maid cafes and concept cafes can be very fun and a great way to practice casual non-robotic Japanese. I've been into many that are just a place to eat simple food and drinks and chat normally with pretty ladies who like the dress-up cosplay and anime culture, no moe moe garbage required. Ironically TAG regulars can enjoy them better because unlike the prototypical otaku we're not sex starved and can go get pussy elsewhere, p4p or otherwise, so it's easier to just chill instead of becoming unhealthily obsessed with a maid like many patrons end up doing.

This is the biggest issue with JAV imo.
Yeah I didn't realize how many issues Japanese JAV actress had, till I talked to one I date from paters. I always knew the underground idol models had bad. But the JAV models can have it just as bad.
