Saw this story yesterday and found it strange that they can not find local based applicants, if the story is true.

Sounds much more like a clever marketing campaign than a real audition.

I'm sure they could find local applicants, but finding guys that are semi-attractive, who can keep a hard-on under challenging conditions, can have sex with amazing looking women (and women they don't find attractive), can have sex multiple times a day, all day long, and can basically come on command is a tall order to fill.

Why would they not do the auditions in Japan? Well, maybe for the privacy of Japanese guys since being recognized as an actor would ruin their lives, but i still find it fishy how they'd solve the visa problems.

The related stories I've seen on this say that the company feels Japanese guys are too passive or something. Also the whole labor shortage argument so they're playing the foreign talent card. I guess Singapore is the closest Asian country that is culturally acceptable. China and Korea is probably out, not sure about Taiwan.

Singapore passport holders can get a 3month tourist visa on arrival. As long as theyre not receiving a salary but an "allowance" the tourist part is okay.

If they actually get hired fulltime, I guess it would be under entertainer ? Or some 'consultant' job that shuttles them back and forth

Probably. But their 'training camp' could still be shot on camera and for successful scenes they could go on various compilation videos and even the unsuccessful ones could go on 'AV star fucks a male virgin or fan' video.

Actually it is not. The only way they would be able to pull this off is to hire the guys in their Singapore company and then send them to biz trip to Japan. And I don't know if they even have a established company in Singapore.

They do. And there is definitely no training camp, you either can get and keep it up at the audition or can't. There is way more than enough guys trying to get into the industry in Japan to not trust any "lack of applicants" explanation.

The biggest reason guys would not want to get to the AV business is that it doesn't pay enough for you to live without a day job.

Yes, this is very true. Now, some guys from Singapore could probably pass as Japanese, especially since the camera focusess on the girls and usually tries to keep the guys out of view for most of the time.
But then why announce those auditions and say Japanese guys are too passive? Seems like an insult to their viewers, except if they mainly want to please the foreign fan base since JAV is very popular in the rest of Asia after all.

Yes, no way girls would agree on this without a proper salary, and if they got a proper salary it would cost too much. Yes, the only way this would be plausible is if it all got filmed and sold.

The thing that surprises me most is that they mentioned planning to do this in Malaysia in the end. Pretty sure Malasian guys could be hanged for appearing in AV.

And if there was, they certainly wouldn't pay the male actor "a minimum of 1 million yen per title"

There is definitely a specific genre of that in most Japanese porn shops but its almost always Black men.
