Just curious, in Fukuoka when strolling past one of the LH's I saw them advertising a "party room" for I think up to 6 people. Don't recall ever seeing that in Tokyo. Have I just been ignorant or is that rather rare?

I have never particularly looked for LH party rooms in Tokyo, but I have encountered one once, a few years ago when I went to one of my SBs' fave LH and their party room was the only one available on a rainy and cool Saturday afternoon.

I don't recall ever seeing any on the lighted room photos selection boards etc at other LHs. So I guess they are not too common anyway but do exist.

The one my SB and I used had an interesting layout. There were three beds of three different sizes divided between two alcoves off of the living/social common room area with a table, TV, karaoke etc. One alcove held the biggest bed which could have handled 2 couples without crowding and 3 without being seriously awkward. The other, somewhat smaller, alcove held the middle sized and small beds which were quite close together. The small one was big enough for a couple to have sex on it but would not have been comfortable sleeping for two people.

There were sheer curtains that could be pulled across the entrance to each alcove off the common room. Two couples could have each had pretty good visual privacy by closing both sets of curtains and dimming the lights. You would still have been able to hear everyone clearly enough, but turning up the music would have provided some audio privacy as well. Of course, if no one was feeling shy, all the romping could have been done together in the one big bed. The bathroom, shower and tub were bigger than in a typical LH room but nothing spectacular.

Somewhere I still have the card for the place; I kept it against a possible future opportunity for some group fun (outside an HB). The place is in the Shibuya area somewhere.

Very interesting........I wonder of the police could bust that place like they hit a few "happening" bars in the past......

Hmmm...not sure why two or more consenting np4p couples playing in a LH room would be any more illegal than just one such couple, but of course logic and LE often part company.

No, they don't. And it would be very difficult to. The type you hear getting busted are companies soliciting on the Internet and they hire prostitutes or porn stars. Often there is a money trail, tax issues, investigation of the company, etc..

The other ways, which are also unusual or about stupidity, is when there is a large party or group and you don't tell the hotel. You can maybe slide with a few extra people, but not over 10, 15, etc.. This is a clear violation of their occupancy rules. And especially when this large group is way too loud, causing problems, or destroying hotel property. Like leaving beer cans everwhere, pissing or puking in the elevator/stairs, or playing their own loud music.

Regular swinger parties aren't usually conducted in that way. You are talking about people that usually know each other and there isn't a trail to say suspect anything other than a party. Anyway, cops busting into a hotel looking for group sex is demented and wasting taxpayer money.

A lot of swinger or grouo sex parties are held in hotel party rooms. But any large hotel room can work.

Well, thank God government never wastes taxpayer money! It is hard to imagine the consequences if they did. ;)

I once went to a LH as part of a group of four and we took two rooms. Before seperating, we all went into one room but soon recieved a phone call from the desk telling us this was not allowed. Not sure why.
Possibly "bad" hotel. There are hotels that aren't so strict. The difference is usually how the front desk of the hotel is setup. If the front desk is not on the first floor or not immediately at the front door, and where people can take the elevator up to the room without being stopped, those are usually fine.

An example is hotel Siena in Shinjuku. Once you see how that is setup, you can use that as a blueprint for what hotels are usually "good".

Some of the worse hotels are the standard love hotels, with mama-san setup near the front door. They can be like hawks, ever on the look out that they might lose a dime. There are many tricks that young Japanese supposedly pull, that a lot of us foreigners are not aware of, and such love hotel staff are always on guard about. For some reason, the cheaper and crappier the hotel, the more "on guard" they seem to need to be. Young Japanese couples using the room, may hand the key to their friends, so they can use the same room too. Possibly doing this 3x to 4x in a row. I have never seen any Japanese or known of any Japanese to pull this, but supposedly this is one of the things they are worried about.

I would be VERY grateful if you could find the name of this place. Sounds awesome! ;)

When I travel with some buddies, we just hide the key in under a fire extinguisher or a lamp in the hallway of the hotel. Then, whoever pulls a girl off the street first just grabs the key and goes in.

I will be happy to do so, but very unfortunately I have to beg your patience. The card is in Tokyo, stashed away with a big stack of other cards, but sadly I am elsewhere (traveling abroad) until after the New Year holiday. If/when I find the meishi I will photograph it and post on TAG. Feel free to remind me with a post or pm if you haven't heard anything on this by mid-January. (After all I'm an absent minded old guy!)

To avoid getting your (or anyone's) expectations too high, I should add that I don't recall the LH itself or that room being anything unusual or special or posh/nice *other* than having the large and somewhat thoughtfully layed-out and furnished party room that I described above.

I also don't remember and probably never knew what, if any, rules about occupancy the hotel had for the room. It was big enough for quite a few people to party maybe up to a dozen as long as everyone didn't insist on shagging in a bed and at the same time, but I have no idea if the hotel would allow that large a gathering.

So now User#16452 knows more about why mama-san or hotel staff is watching her so hard. But the other side of the argument is hotels being full at the wrong moment and being so expensive. Guys find some willing ladies at the club or bars, but can't get a room; Saturdays are often the worse. So some pitch in for a room to keep the price down and share time.

Personally, we find hotels where your friends coming in isn't a problem and get big rooms. Hotel Siena in Shinjuku, Shinjuku Prince Hotel, etc... are the type. Plus, we don't mind sharing ladies, if the ladies don't mind ;-) The price to get a room for all night and split the difference, is often not that much more expensive than the cheap love hotels on the weekends, who jack up their prices around that time anyway. Shibuya is among the worse for price jacking on Friday and the weekends. Just make sure to reserve enough time in advance, when dealing with the larger hotels or not specifically love hotels.

Ha! I am absent minded indeed, so much so that I forgot where I left their meishi...BUT I just stumbled across it while thumbing through a stack of cards I have with me here while looking for something else. So, here it is; see photo. Enjoy! (I hope it is still there.)
