I think someone has asked a question about Massage Republic already. Last week I was attracted to one profile of an "Independent escort" whom I contacted via whatsapp. I was directed to E hotel in Higashi-Shinjiku. Was very disappointed when I was met by a Thai escort that was completely different from the pics I had seen online. She told me the account / advert was placed by a manager. Not good!

That’s weird. I had pulled my AD back from all other advertising platforms long time ago, because TAG had proved to be the best source of affluent clients. However times have changed and with borders shut down (& my overseas regulars stuck in their home countries) I had to make minor tweaks to my branding and started advertising on Massage Republic less than a week ago.. I digress.
Anyways, the system requires you to send in a photo of your face showing and holding a paper with a custom assigned four digit number on it. I have submitted a photo of me with on ly the tip of my nose & lips showing and the white bra I’m wearing on my most recent pics. Then a day later after submitting the verification photo I have received the notification that says I got approved by the admin. Yay.
TL;DR There is some level of photo verification, but I see a lot of other escorts on this platform use photo editing apps like SNOW. Snow can give everyone smooth skin, slim face, big bug eyes, etc etc. This is more of a millennial problem tho, we all have selfie dysmorphia.
It’s not the most trustworthy platform although you can always run into gems.

That's a very common occurrence - it's why we don't cover them here and we advise against taking a risk and ending up with the experience you just had.
Just to echo my sentiments about Massage Republic, I wanted to personally test the site since it isn’t well regarded, and wanted to see it for myself. I messaged a few ones including recent ones in June, and it turned out to be fake and I was directed to a dating registration websites. The correspondence on WhatsApp was quite sketchy when she couldn’t answer properly if she’s currently based in Tokyo. It turns out that she’s out of the country yet she posted in Tokyo. Not sure if taking risk is recommended, but this is a warning for others to tread waters in M.R carefully. Of course, there are legit ones out there.

Yet again, why we ask people to stay away from those types... we just simply prefer not to cover them here because even with warnings, people still have the attitude "oh, it won't happen to me..."
I won't post links but there is one ad there for Chie but the review mentions Emi. The manager reuses the same profiles, editing them whenever a new girl comes in.

Which is how they game the system... once a manager or agency gets a standard profile, this is what happens...
"game the system" is the perfect description........The re-editing of previously uploaded profiles on Massage Republic, as well as Cityoflove..... is similar......same copywriting....but the name and photos change........ on both sites, there are indie girls, Tokyo based or touring ones that are real..but few!...(nobody is touring now) But on MR, the "new" listings which include recent reviews, seems logical, even if there are some fakes....But when going to the general "escorts" listing..... there's no order...... "just arrived in Tokyo" can mean months ago(or never) ..... At least on City of love.....the last date of entry or modification of a profile is shown.....real or fake...... and now Locanto has become the new Backpage.......

Well, Massage Republic has some ads with big pictures in the overview and a lot with smaller ones. I think only the big ones are current ones, at least that's my experience.
I'm not using them regularly, but I didn't really have bad experiences. You need to adjust your expectations. But to be honest, if I go there, I look for affordable encounters with Thai or Philippina Ladies. Anyone asking 30k+ ... If I want to play in that league, I will choose someone reviewed on TAG.
It's not too rare for the ladies there to offer facetime if you don't trust the pictures.
Also you can and should just walk away if the lady is totally different and doesn't peak your interest. If you start of an encounter already being disappointed, there is little chance that this will lead anywhere good.
