Metalhead

they covered themselves a little, but yeah it is!

I'm not too much into metal any more but damn if Iron Maiden's recent album isn't amazing!
Oh, did you go to their live in April?

Bands often say that japanese fans are some of the most dedicated, and they're not wrong. At Maiden's live, there was this amazing lady who was sporting an order-made Iron Maiden-inspired kimono set. Yes, kimono, not yukata. I don't want to think about the price :joyful:

Yeah I was the short foreigner wearing boots :D

I've been wanting to see them since the 80 since Number of the Beast, this was my first time to see them in concert. Worth every single Yen I paid for those floor seats.

Holy crap! I didnt see her but that is amazing!!!

Yeah, it was not cheap, honestly i was a bit shocked when the prices were announced. And it was crazy how fast the most expensive tickets went sold-out.
Even though arena is the best, paying 17000y seems a bit... too much.

After the show people were lining to take pictures with/of her :ROFLMAO:

saw them for the first time when i was 12, unfortunately that was after fear of the dark (worst of their records)... but seriously, 30 years???? they never played in your country? usually you can see them every second year...

Sometimes I just couldn't match the schedule, sometimes I couldn't afford the tickets, sometimes life just doesn't give you what you want.

Point is I finally saw them and had a great time.

I've always wanted to go to Loudpark even though I usually only really like 3-5 bands on the line-up. I haven't been to a concert in a long time but Japan has some cool rock/metal bars.

I put some bands i like, with their sns if you want to check their sound/upcoming shows.
Note that I love mostly death and black.

Apologist is solid, traditional black metal. Very enjoyable, and funnily offensive MC from the singer.

Zardost is more on the death metal side, it's brutal and good.

Hernia44 is enjoyable to watch too, and costumes/custom instruments are worth seeing

Strange is death/trash (and rare enough to be mentioned, they have a foreign member)

I can't leave Yamada san out of the list, because he's God and his voice is the most beautiful thing in the world. He has 3 bands but the greatest one is Dark Insanity (black metal)

Their next lives are 5th of July, 6th of May, 16th of September. If you're in Tokyo during one of those dates you must go and worship God. Seriously, although it's good YouTube doesn't do justice to his talent, he sounds one million times better live.

Note that all these bands are not big acts, so they don't do one-man shows.
But then tickets are cheap (usually around 2000y) and sometimes you go for a certain band and you end up discovering other great bands.

Also, it's not really a live show, but in September there will be the next occurence of the event i talked about here (and it seems some automated bot replaced the name of the body suspension team "The H*****s" with the word "Escorts" :ROFLMAO:). Most of the DJs were playing metal, and the two bands playing that night were great. It will soon be 5 years that i'm here, and i think it was the best event i've been to since i arrived.
By the way, one of the bands playing was Antifeminism, and if they have a live while you're in japan, give it a try. Not only is the music brutal, but the frontman is a beast: for the finale, he put his arms on fire before diving on a pile of neon tubes (and it was real stuff, me and other people who were close got tiny shards of glass stuck in their legs )

Hey!
Damn thanks for the information, I've checked out the bands and while they're not all my thing, they're still good to listen to. If I get the chance, I'll probably check them out during my stay over there.
I'm also quite interested in that metal DJ live event, could you give me some information about that?

It's not a "DJ event" per se, it's an event with DJs (if that makes any sense?) but it's a bit hard to define. Underground culture event? Basically the main event is always body suspensions, with other shows that are different for each event, and DJs during suspensions and between shows. Usually Yukio from rock bar PSY is there, and other DJs varies.
After their 1st participation last time it seems that Team Panda will become a recurring DJ/show act (at least they'll be there in september). They're not metal at all but they're amazing nonetheless: imagine a room full of black clothes clad, heavily tattooed/pierced fans of metal jumping around hyper Pandas to one of the happiest pop song ever

I don't put direct pictures since last time i did, the suspensions shocked at least one person, but there are galleries of the previous event here and there.
Also the event's twitter is @grindchaos666

OOT but any chance your username comes from DMC?

concerts in japan are always expensive, except for some underground bands...
there used to be some metal dj party at club moon in osaka, every third sunday, starting from 4pm, or so... every hour you get a free shot of jaeger and the waitress drops some clothing... was actually fun, though the djs played various genres and i left the venue when they started playing metal core...
but it was fun, not too crowded, nice people and so on...
otherwise i stay away from most metal bars and events...as much as i love the music, i never liked the audience much... not to speak of metal heads humour...
anybody knows if current is still open? whenever i try to go its closed, but the sign boards are still there...

This sounds sooo awesome! Now I really want to go there! (Just looked at the pictures and it doesn't scare me in the least (unless they'll try to hang me)) Thanks so much for the information.

You've got it, my username is indeed from DMC. I can't help but love that series.
